I think they tried to trade back but nobody was offering enough to make it worthwhile. The jags traded back from 17 to 23 and only netted a 5th rounder this year and a 3rd and 4th next year. Nothing to really get excited about with a trade like that.
Some are saying that it's likely Minnesota was trying to deal with the Hawks for the 16th pick to lander Turner.

They gave Jax a 2024 5th rounder, 2025 3rd, 2025 4th for the no. 17 pick.

I doubt Seattle, without a 2nd rounder, was really interested in adding just a 5th round pick in the 2024 draft when their favorite defender was on the board for them at 16. There's no way they get Murphy at 23.

Johnny S had better use at least 2 of the next 3 picks on O line. Cross, Anchrum, Oluwatimi, Bradford, Lucas/Fant might be the worst line in Seahawk history.

Yeah, again, that was my point. Again, everyone says we need to add picks so just trade back. I’d need a pick where I knew I’d get someone like Sweat, but still have a shot at the end of the 1st or top of the 2nd. And even then it might not end up being Murphy.

We traded back multiple times once. Got McDowell, Tyson and Thompson with it. The best pick was a seventh round flier on Chris Carson, who we could have had anyway. Not as easy as simply trading back. I imagine there were deals available. Just not good ones.

Maybe you guys are right and there weren't any decent trade opportunities, but i would have liked to see JS trade down into the 2nd round for another later 2nd rounder and draft a C/G and DT. Probably could have gotten Newton or Orhohoro along with a top OG.

Some rumors today that Seattle actually tried to trade into Atlanta's spot to take Penix. Also, multiple teams apparently tried to do so as well.

No effing way. I don't believe that. John isn't that dumb.

They loved Murph too much to trade down.
Schneider said the Seahawks indeed considered it, saying “we had four opportunities” to potentially make deals, calling them “good ones, too.”

“I’d be lying to you if I said we didn’t think about it,” said Schneider, who was running the draft without Pete Carroll sitting beside him for the first time in 15 years in Seattle. “But the player was just too good. He influences the game a lot.”

Anchrum is the backup to Tomlinson

Sure, maybe. But what are they going to say now? "Well, we didn't want him but nobody offered us shit to trade"?

The bottom line is, they decided that the player they could take was more valuable than adding more picks later. I don't care what he says now, which is basically saying that. That said? Didn't they say the same shit about LJ Collier, Germain Ifedi and Rashad Penny?

Woah you totally destroyed my argument. Tomlinson with his PFF grades of 57 and 55 the past two years will totally solidify the interior of the line.
