Are the Seahawks really as good as they looked in their blowout win? One of the Seahawks' most dominant performances in recent memory came against a team that arrived in Seattle with an 0-2 record, a rookie head coach, a second-year quarterback and a banged-up offensive line. Then again, the Saints had a chance to win or tie on their last possession in losses to Arizona and San Francisco, so they might not be as bad as the Seahawks made them look. Either way, it was an all-three-phases whupping by Seattle, and it was so thorough that the team was able to pull most of its starters early in the fourth quarter. That will help with an NFC West game at Arizona in four days.

I heard if from Pete Carroll - the team getting blowed out is never as bad as it looks and the team doing the blowing out isn't as good as it looks either... (horribly paraphrased).Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 23, 2025 11:38 amESPN

I am never really concerned about Arizona. Kyler struggles against defensively oriented teams. Even when their decent the Hawks seem to play them well. I think they've won 6 out of the last 7 against them or something like that.

I bet you could find a few quotes saying limiting pitch counts reduces injures too now couldn't ya. lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 8:10 pmYeah I do up to you if you don'tD-train wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 6:04 pmYou honestly think that almost 100 hours later their bodies are going to better off in terms of rest because they played 3 quarters instead of 4 to the extent that it could be the difference in the game??? I do not.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 12:18 amsignificant going into the Thursday night game MM was able to rest his starters for the fourth quarter
Thursday Night Football will take place in Glendale on a short week after the Seahawks had four key players sidelined due to injuries. Well, the fact that the Seahawks rested their starters in the fourth quarter is a significant advantage with less recovery time for this matchup.

Wow amazing that ESPN have writers with Phds in human physiology that have undisputable evidence that playing only 3 quarters of football is significantly less taxing than 4 quarters of football 100 hours later. Our boys will be flying all over the field on Thursday. And I can't wait to see them a week from Sunday after 10 days rest! Check this out Leonard Williams got Three less snaps than vs. the Steelers and a whopping 14 less than vs. the 49ers. He must feel like a Spring chicken right now!Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 23, 2025 11:38 amESPN

Blowouts are almost always fueled by Special teams zaniness and turnovers. We are better than the Saints and Steelers and I would be surprised if we beat the 49th in SF.trharder wrote: ↑Tue Sep 23, 2025 1:43 pmI heard if from Pete Carroll - the team getting blowed out is never as bad as it looks and the team doing the blowing out isn't as good as it looks either... Not to mention they've lost Conner so presumably Murray's going to drop back more often and we should tee off on him.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 23, 2025 4:04 pmI am never really concerned about Arizona. Besides, we might have more fans at the game Thursday than AZ does!

MM calls it criticalLeonard Williams is sore. His body is telling him it doesn’t want to play again already. So he’s playing tricks to play Sunday then again this Thursday. Tricks with himself. “I’ve just trained myself not to listen to my body all the time,” the 11th-year NFL veteran and Pro Bowl defensive end said Tuesday. It was two days after he had four tackles, shared a sack with Ty Okada, had two quarterback hits and about 100 other bangs playing 45 of 72 defensive snaps in his Seahawks’ 44-13 win over the New Orleans Saints.
It was one day before he and the Seahawks (2-1) fly to Arizona to play again, Thursday against the Cardinals (2-1) in an NFC West game.
The Seahawks' defense was on the field for 46 plays in the first half, largely because of how quickly and how often Seattle was scoring. That gave Macdonald another reason to pull most of his starters -- which he did on both sides of the ball -- after three quarters.
"That was critical," he said of the extra rest heading into their Thursday night road game against the Cardinals, who reportedly lost starting running back James Conner to a season-ending ankle injury Sunday.
