"Ive got to be better. It's my job to go in there and be ready to help this team win and I didn't do that." Fucking Grubb, what a loser intentionally hanging that kid out to dry by trying to win a football game with a kid that had been there all off season in week fifteen at QB. How dare he think he could call pass plays trying to win a football game with a guy who was a full time starter in Washington and has had plenty of time to learn the play book. Damn, good thing we fired that Grubb guy.

"At the end of the day. It's what I get paid to do and I gotta be better." I guess what he meant was the OC sucks. The only people that thought this was anyone but Howell's fault type messages in this forum.

Admits he made the wrong read on the INT, admits he needs to make decisions faster on the sacks. Straight up admits that if nothing else, he stunk. If he knew the plays and still looked that bad? Then yes, they should cut his ass because he is worthless.

If Howell is reluctant to study the playbook and prepare for possibly entering a game he's not on the active roster to begin with, Jarrren Hall is the second string. I don't want to hear Howell is a better more talented QB. If Howell is not prepared to do everything he can to help his team win he gets benched. You don't reward a lazy attitude with playing time. That to me is a pretty basic coaching principle. MM has brought it up himself. In my mind, if the issue is Howell is lazy and unmotivated to prepare to possibly enter a game, that creates more questions than it answers

MM... you don't think that would apply to Howell?
"Just like you see with all these guys, there’s going to be another opportunity. You’ve got to go earn it every day in practice. That’s the message. Guys that bring it every day and show up in practice and show up in games and help us win, they’re going to play. If you take a step back, then you’ve got to be accountable
What did you see with your eyes Donn? Did you watch the fucking game and see a kid that looked like in week fucking fifteen he knew the playbook?

Again, state an opinion. Do you think Howell knew the playbook and Grubb fucked him? Because what I saw was a kid with NO CLUE. I've stated my opinion. For once, have one.
I agree, he didn't seem prepared. My opinion is if the reason he wasn't prepared was because he's lazy to study the playbook that isn't satisfactory. Because if he isn't studying the playbook he has no business playing. If it was the reason then the coaching staff blew it by putting themselves in a position to have to use him, again, that's my opinion. That's terrible coaching.

So, the buck stops with the OC then? The QB coach still has a job. Why? The buck stops with the GM, and then the HC, but here in Seattle? Those are the last two people to answer to anything. A decade of this shit. But? This time a new OC will cure it all, I'm sure of it.

It's not about a buck stopping somewhere, it's about figuring out why they ran a backup QB out that didn't seem prepared. That's what I'm getting at, if I'm MM I'm asking what's wrong here that Howell looked so bad? It's not blaming, it's fixing. If it's Howell not bothering to study you need to fix that, the first thing you do is not play him. That just doesn't ring true to me because I don't understand why they would allow it to happen. Why would they tolerate that, think of the mood that put the team in, Howell doesn't have to bother with the playbook and there's no accountability. My opinion is that would be terrible coaching. If I'm MM I'm studying it, how do they prepare a backup QB, the way they go about practice and so forth. I'd be looking for better ways to prepare him

Again, did you watch that game and see a QB that had a clue what to do with the ball? And if not, you blame the OC for that? Did you watch the game? It's as bad as I have seen since the LOB forced the NFL to change the rules so it's 7 on 7. He was clueless. That wasn't a QB who had prepared well for and entire off season and fifteen weeks into the regular season. He said himself....his job is to be ready to play and he wasn't. But, yeah, had to be that he was poorly coached.

I had been wondering about it, having a QB seemed so unprepared,. But I wasn't thinking about it in terms of who to blame. It was more like systems analysis. What could you do to have your backup QB better prepared. I doubt the problem was Howell being dumb and lazy. He's a premier professional athlete, a NFL QB, I don't think you accomplish that ig you're dumb and lazy, those guys have already been weeded out. And if it is the problem then it's a pretty straightforward fix, you bench him. But let's say it was more being rusty, nervous, overwhelmed. I'm not trying to blame him for that or the coaches either. But it sure seems like a thing that needs to be rolled into the shop and worked on. Something doesn't seem right about the preparation. If it was nervousness, rustiness, something along those lines, again for me that's just the beginning. What could you do as a coaching staff to eliminate those kinds of things. I'd really be curious if MM commented on it. It's an obvious question for him. What went wrong and what could be done to improve it. Terms of Grubb, were there adjustments that could have been made to make it easier for Howell. I'm not trying to blame Grubb but I've gotten the impression that's an opinion,

Well, I do have an opinion. And I think it's crazy to assume that it's on the coaches. I mean, did they need to give the backup QB reps during the week while they are trying to get ready to beat the Green Bay Packers? I would be very surprised if that is something that happens very often. You have a starting QB, and they need reps. Howell has to be ready to play with the reps he is given. No one said it's easy, but no one said a guy that started that many games as a rookie should look that bad when he gets on the field.

Again, I don't get the amount of blame placed on certain coaches by this fanbase, and by fanbase I mean Seattle. The GM is bringing in players that stink, the players are stinking, but the GM and the players are always the last ones to take any heat for it. It's mind blowing. Russ Wilson threw an interception at the goal line when we were about to win our second straight Super Bowl, and until he started acting all weird about being a Celebrity? He never took ANY criticism in this city. Adrian Beltre was as pedestrian as he could have possibly been while he was here, and an MVP candidate everywhere else. But he is absolutely adored here. John Schneider has been about as untouchable as you can possibly be, and while Dipoto has taken some heat, he basically had to call the fans stupid before there was much uproar. And they STILL make a shit ton of money because people flock to the games despite one playoff appearance in going on three decades now. But God help you if you are the hitting coach or manager of the Mariners or the OC of the Seahawks.

One year because a guy in his first ever year calling plays in the pros, couldn't take what has been a dogshit O Line for years and turn it into a powerful running team. One year? Again, this is Dipoto trading Graveman one game out of the playoffs. It's a bad look, and I don't see anyone that is an up and comer signing up to be the next JS scapegoat. MM should have stuck up for his guy, but? He didn't like the pass first approach....that Grubb has had since before MacDonald was calling defenses! Stupid, bad look, and it's about to get worse. Offensive coaches from the Saints, Giants and Bears are rumored to be front runners along with this forum's favorite whipping boy Schotty. Buckle up.

All because one year in we needed to get rid of a guy that coached the exact same way here as he has his entire career. Stupid.

MM seemed to blame the offensive line, I'm thinking Grubb might have done a better job of keeping the pass rush off him. The tone seems more apologetic towards Howell as opposed to being pissed about him not being prepared.
As coach Mike Macdonald noted in his post-game press conference, the Seahawks were dealing with a double-edged sword, as the offensive line wasn't doing a good job keeping defenders out of the pocket and Howell wasn't able to get rid of the ball quick enough on several occasions. Making things tougher, the Packers did a great job of covering on the back end, allowing the pass rush to consistently collapse on the quarterback.

"Wasn't good enough to win. I know he's disappointed," Macdonald remarked. "Just didn't feel like we were getting the ball out on time and then it wasn't complemented with our pass protection. I know we gave up a bunch of sacks, and they did a good job, too. They covered the routes and rushed the passer, and it was a complementary game on their end."

Strange that he didn't just come out and tell us what we all saw that the QB was shit. I mean, that's what coaches usually do.

Sure, they have a dumb QB that's too lazy to practice, they go ahead and reward him with playing time anyway so there's no accountablity and now they are covering it up with a line of BS to the press. But there's nothing to hold the coaching staff responsible for
