He has the 2013 Hawks at #2 and the 2007 18-1 Patriots at #1, based on their overall seasons. He says he strongly considered making the Hawks #1.
That Patriot team reminds one of the 2001 Mariners, who had the greatest regular season of all time but unfortunately came up short of the big prize, the Patriots due to some incredibly dumb luck in the Super Bowl, and the Mariners due to 9/11 halting their momentum. Can either or both still be called the best teams of their time?
I will say this: what the Hawks did in the Super Bowl is probably the greatest Super Bowl performance of all time and not enough is made of it. They went up against the #1 offense of all time and almost shut them out, and the final score should have been 50-8 as the Hawks would have had another pick-six on that fourth down play at the end of the first half if the line hadn't deflected Payton Manning's pass. also, we were three-point underdogs in that game whereas pretty much all the other Super Bowl routs were by teams that were heavily favored.

I've never understood that. I kept asking myself and everyone else that I talked with..."what am I missing?" Vegas usually has their shit together, and I just felt like maybe it was the fan in me that thought that Denver's offense had no idea what was about to happen to them. I thought we'd win by two scores. So, obviously, I had no reason to believe we would just absolutely kick their ass, but still.
I remember thinking how much worse it should have been. It was 8 to 0 and should have been 16 to 0. I still remember when we kicked the second short FG, my first thought was "Shit, watch them go down and score a TD and get two to tie it, and we've been kicking their ass all quarter. That, of course, didn't happen.

I was telling everyone I talked to leading up to the game that the Hawks were going to win by at least three touchdowns. They'd just gone through a total slobber-knocker with the Niners and had all the attitude in the world. Early on when Kam Chancellor knocked Demaryius Thomas back to his huddle I said "Game over".

I think that the best comparison of the two teams was that old Bugs Bunny wrestling short film. The Hawks came out like The Crusher growling and snarling while the Broncos pranced around like Ravishing Ronald.

Vegas as in the betting public? I call it Vegas too but it is crowd sourced, all Vegas is interested in is keeping the betting going evenly.

I'll take "Shit That Has Nothing To Do With Anything And That Nobody Wondered About" for $ 200, Alex.

Vegas usually has their shit together,
I wondered what that meant. Vegas didn't lose a dime with the game being what was, thanks for butting as usual
