Where are you guys at with Woolen?
I guess he charts out nicely and the "smart guys" still think he's great.
I watched this video, that's supposed to show how great he is, and it left me flat.
I admit I don't actually know anything about CB technique.

Re: Reek
Yeah, coverage isn't his issue. It's about being able to hold up in run support.

okay, but that's what you want isn't it, aggressive play that doesn't get flagged? There's a tension to it, a balance.

Re: Reek
He'd have fit in with the LOB. That defense is the reason the game is called this way. The NFL might not have wanted Denver to win that Super Bowl, but they sure didn't want their video game darling Bronco offense to get embarrassed on the biggest stage in sports. Troy Aikman cried about the LOB all year long. ESPN spent the entire two weeks prior to the game giving 70% of the air time to the Broncos and their record breaking offense. Then? A football game broke out, and since it wasn't seven on seven? The Broncos got spanked.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 7:27 amokay, but that's what you want isn't it, aggressive play that doesn't get flagged? There's a tension to it, a balance.
It's still possible, but you can't build the defense from the back up. The two times the Chiefs have been beat in the Super Bowl? Tampa and Philly harassed them up front, on both sides of the ball. That has been my biggest beef with Schneider. It's not like this is new. This trend started about the time Demaryius Thomas got knocked into outer space by Kam.
I liked what I saw last night, the run game looked way more effective. But I do think it came at the expense of the passing game, and I don't think one Guard is going to make this O Line go from bottom five to top 15.
Reek plays the game the way Richard Sherman did....and you are right. That was borderline throw a flag on every play defense!
Re: Reek
Sherm was very handsy and pressed the limits of what you could get away with on nearly every play.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 3:23 pmReek plays the game the way Richard Sherman did....and you are right. That was borderline throw a flag on every play defense!
Browner was just as bad, if not worse.
But, by "plays the game the way Sherm does". c'mon. There's no "boom" to Woolen.
Sherm, was one of the, if not the best, tackling CB's in NFL history. Browner would hit a guy HARD.
You see none of this by diva Woolen. Woolen has been benched by two different coaches for being soft in the
head and soft on the field.

Valid point. I guess I should have said he play coverage very similarly. Uses his hands....it's just harder to get away with that now.trharder wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 3:24 amSherm was very handsy and pressed the limits of what you could get away with on nearly every play.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 3:23 pmReek plays the game the way Richard Sherman did....and you are right.
