when are the seahawks going to have an owner

Jody Allen needs to sell the team, that's what she is there to do, that is her duty, dispose of the assets of her brother's estate, she isn't the owner, she is the administrator of the estate. Enough already, time for an actual owner

Agreed. But I am curious how profitable this organization is? I mean, the NFL is a cash cow right? It might not be in her best interest to sell....but that seems crazy too since I am sure she could sell it for a shit load of money. Sure would be nice if it was to someone local that actually gave a shit. But it seems like most of the Pro Franchises being sold now are sold to investment groups, not individual people who love the team.

The Mariners are run as a business, first, second, third and fourth. About fifth on their priority list is if the team wins, and that is only because winning just enough to keep the fans happy means more profit. It would be interesting to see if this team sold, what would change? It seems like the NFL is do different, with the cash flow from television deals and the salary cap, really making it hard not to be profitable.

she is in fact the owner i guess, I have never been sure what to call her. but she isn't going to benefit from a sale, she isn't the beneficiary. A series of charities are the beneficiaries, she is there to maximize their benefits. I don't really see anything about it as being profit driven other than that, she can't squander the proceeds

Why should we care. Has she been a bad administrator in your opinion?

okay, been looking it over, this i think is the deal. Paul Allen was never about trying to make a profit, he was the accidental billionaire. It's interesting looking at Jody, I hadn't really grasped how closely involved she was with everything Paul. And that she is also extremely intelligent and capable as her brother, but in other ways. He is the one that came up with the idea of buying the Seahawks, but she is the one that actually carried through the process of getting Lumen field built, which was a huge complicated process.

The deal is, what's important is the philanthropic aspects to their empire, I think Jody has been involved in them as much as Paul, the vision thing, the legacy. And this is what the estate is all about, furthering the legacy. You really have to put winning football games in perspective. Paul's biggest undertaking I believe is the Allen Institute, described as embodying "his vision to foster innovation in environmental, bioscience, and artificial intelligence research for good, continuing his life's work to "challenge conventional thinking and reimagine what is possible".

My point is, Jody's job is to maximize the proceeds for those sorts of beneficiaries. I am thinking the issue is the spiraling value of sports teams these days. When do you pull the trigger on a sale to maximize value when the value is increasing at such a terrific rate?

she hasn't been bad at it, but that is what she is, an administrator. It's okay by me but do you want an owner that is invested in winning? Maybe it doesn't matter

If Jody sells the team, that's up to her. You don't have a vote. Stop talking about it.
