My guess is this is just another case of a Defensive Coach wanting it his way, getting it is way, realizing it's fucking stupid, and then getting pissed about it. More play action. Our starting RB averaged 2 yards per carry. But I'm sure all it took was to fake it to him a few more times....that'd do the trick. The Niners knew what we were doing because we spent an entire summer telling the world we were the 80s Sooners, and we don't care. We are physical, we have an attitude, we have forty new Offensive Run game coaches that will fix all that is broken. The Niners couldn't possibly have been less afraid of Darnold and his band of passing game weapons. This team will lose more than they win if the defense doesn't score. It's poorly constructed. Maybe that is by design? They couldn't get the QB they wanted, so why throw money at skill position players? Let's free up cap space and see if we can find a QB and then build around him? Makes more sense than what we witnessed on Sunday was their definition of a team that was going to win our second playoff game in nine years!

Not surprised he is questioning it, they used play action at half the rate as grubb did, I have been curious myself why that was

There was clearly a communication problem between MM and Grubb as they couldn't get on the same page so not a good sign that something as simple of the % of Play action pass plays couldn't be agreed upon and executed with his replacement.

Yeah, I think that is a good way to put the deal between grubb and MM. And like i said then, MM needs to get it right terms of his staff. His canning Grubb was a failure in the first place terms of his responsibility which is to put together his staff. Its interesting his commenting in preseason about how well they did communicate actually, I don't think i can find the comment but it seemed almost a dig at Grubb. I really don't understand the hard part in terms of following a game plan. Why would they go away from play action in the first place? I guess its giving Saleh credit, he out coached them

here is an AI answer to my trying to find that particular comment, it had to do with them communicating through headphones
Mike Macdonald frequently discusses Klint Kubiak, with Macdonald praising their collaboration and Kubiak's vision for the offense, specifically mentioning effective communication over the headset. Macdonald emphasizes the "through not around" communication mentality, which fosters strong team connectivity and allows coaches to visualize plays based on communication, a mindset that applies to how the whole team, including the offense with Kubiak, is coached. The term "headphones" likely refers to the headset communication system used between coaches, which is integral to the effective coordination between Macdonald and Kubiak.
When i was young and working in the office of a construction company as opposed to the field I remember my boss telling me, my job there now was to facilitate communication, that was it. That's always stuck with me. That's MM's responsibility now as a HC, facilitating communication, he can't just keep firing people claiming its not happening, he needs to make it happen

That's the thing about Grubb being a scapegoat, I do not see what advantage MM got from firing him, if MM is concerned about his image I think he is more likely to keep grubb and try to make it work. Now he is really up against it, if this doesn't work its really going to call into question his ability to build a staff. And that would be a question he created himself by firing grubb in the first place, and lead to questions about his being replaced by another HC

Yeah on one hand the complexity of the design of plays is beyond me like GPS or Google or self driving cars but otoh how do you no call enough outside zone run plays or play action passes. A chimpanzee could do that.

There's the aspect of progression, chess aspect to it. You are calling plays to set up a future play. Deal is, Saleh is calling plays too. All I can figure is Saleh's play calling trumped Kubiaks.
