Vabel probably robs MM of coach of the year. There is an assistant coach award, be interesting how Kubiak doesLawrence may not have his best football in front of him, but he can still be an important piece to the puzzle for the Seahawks pass rush.
Though some may think that the Seahawks are hitting the reset button and trying to rebuild, signings like Lawrence prove that Seattle is trying to stay competitive in an NFC West that could very well be wide open in the 2025 season
He has nailed the past several drafts, and even the old "O Line Stinks" thing can't really be thrown around this year. He made a believer out of me. Thank God Jody extended him....like I said all along!
I did too.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 10:34 pmHe deserved this award...and again, this is coming from a guy that was pissed as Hell that we extended him. I didn't want him fired, but thought he'd need a prove it year before getting extended. I guess he proved it, but it was after the extension.

I honestly wonder how much of the head scratching stuff from before wasn't John? He made some not so great moves in FA last year, Laken Tomlinson, the LBs they ended up getting rid of early in the season, and a couple of others. But of late? I mean, no more LJ Colliers, Germain Ifedis, Christine Michaels, etc. Hell, even the questionable picks were not that questionable. I loved the JSN and Spoon picks, but many wanted guys at different positions. I don't think anyone really said they were bad picks, just thought there were players at positions of more need.
Once they stopped trying to prove that they could do it with out of the box picks? I am really just left to wonder how much of that was Pete Carroll in his ear. Pete had a lot of say over personnel moves for the Raiders this year too.
I know the line hasn't been amazing this year, but that was the turning point for me. This line has been what we have been asking it to be....good enough. I can't wait to see if they can add some talent at C or RG, but you have to like the direction. I read an article a week or two ago that said last year's FA class was crap because no one was really on the same page because of the lateness of the hire and putting a staff together they really weren't up to that kind of thinking. It took up through the draft and beyond for the staff to have kind of cohesion. Once 2024 started and happened, they brought in the new coaches and really got aligned in last year's playoffs so that by the time 2025 FA hit everyone of the signed players had been vouched for by a staff member before they even started negotiating. JS knew exactly what his coaches wanted and got it for them. I think this kind of cohesion between the field and front office has been a huge leap forward....possibly to a Super BowlMichael K. wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 10:34 pmHe has nailed the past several drafts, and even the old "O Line Stinks" thing can't really be thrown around this year. Yeah, I really am fascinated with the MM hire. I keep pondering it terms of a really brilliant JS move. I don't feel like he gets enough credit for it somehow. You look over the coaching cycle from then, like 40% of the hires have already been fired, that was no slam dunk, MM could have screwed it up. But instead I think he came up with what's looking like a premier NFL HC. What worried me about the hire was the six year contract it took. Now that seems like a steal. You're replacing the franchises winninest coach, what are the chances of actually improving on him? And JS looks like he's done it. I really find that pretty amazing. Terms of replacing qbs and coaches I think us seahawks fans are getting pretty spoiled and JS is the one doing it.Bil522 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 10:55 pmI read an article a week or two ago that said last year's FA class was crap because no one was really on the same page because of the lateness of the hire and putting a staff together they really weren't up to that kind of thinking.
