I'm probably the only one not happy about this. He sucks as a starter, but as depth or a dime corner, he's well above average. Would've been nice to at least get a 5th rounder for him.
Anyway, it's interesting that he requested it. Was he that sick of the coaches? Or feel like he's a legit NFL starter?
If he is picked up and does well it will be quite an indictment.....
He might get picked up, but I'm not worried he'll do well. That guy is dreadful. The second coming of Kelly Jennings.

Ken Norton Jr, destroyer of careers, Carroll's indispensable sidekick. 😱
I'm sure the defense will improve as soon as we start playing backup QB's again. Just like last year. The same thing Mr. Homer Wyman made excuses for. Norton has been historically bad in his years as a DC here and horrid for the Raiders. But, it isn't his fault at all.

It isn't 100 percent on Norton though, I will give him that. John has done a crappy job of drafting. LJ 1st, Brooks 1st, Green, Barton 3rd , Ugo, Blair 2nd, Reed 2nd, Robinson 5th, Taylor 2nd, McDowell 2nd, Brown 3rd, Griffin 5th, Martin 6th, Griffin 3rd, Hill 3rd, Thompson 4th, Jones 3rd, Tyson 6th, Jefferson 5th, Flowers 5th

Last 6 Drafts (Looking at it, it's actually pretty horrible)

2 Current Starters (Taylor and Brooks--Green marginal starter)
7 Backups
1 1st, 1 second, 2 3rds, and a 4th are absolute busts.

Apparently he's ready to give up paychecks to escape SEA. Makes a person wonder.
Pete said at his press conference today that Flowers did not request to be released.

Apparently he asked to be released after he was demoted.

And here's an interesting read:

Bengals signed him... so no worries about him being Super Bowl MVP

If PC says it then it has to be true.

After earlier saying he did? He realized, wait, people are questioning why anyone would want to leave!? Spin time.

I can’t think of any reason anyone would want to play in this defensive scheme. The league has figured it out, and QBS are too good. But we refuse to change anything, just blame the players. It’s ridiculous.

Is it that they figured it out or when you don't have elite players at every level it doesn't work. I think it is the severe lack of elite or even good players.

Kam and Earl vs Adams and Diggs--not close
Jones and Reed and Ugo vs Sherm and Browner and Maxwell--again not in the same stratosphere
Dunlap and Benson/Hyder/Green vs Bryant and Clemmons/Avril/Bennett--again not in the same stratosphere
DT Poona and Mone vs Mebane and McDaniel--lesser now
LB Wagner Taylor and Brooks vs Wagner and KJ and Irvin--again lesser now

We are worse at every single position area. And worse by huge margins. And we are coached worse. Norton as the leader???

It isn't the scheme as much as it is the players. John has done a shitty job of drafting and player acquisition too.
