OK, WHY would any of you vote Lock? What about him tells you he should be the guy?
He couldn't beat out Teddy Bridgewater.
When given the chance, he went 4-9 with the roster that everybody is saying is a Super Bowl contender with Russ.
His QBR last year was 23
He has as many INTs as TDs
The knock against him is ability to read defense and make decisions.
What exactly makes any of you think he should be the starting QB for us, or ANY NFL team? I mean, maybe it turns out he is. I hope so. I just see zero evidence of it.
My preference, in some approximate order, until a stud rookie is brought in:
Foles
Fitzmagic
Winston
Baker
Mariota
Geno Smith
Me

I agree. It was multiple years of not being a good qb. He had fantastic weapons. And still stunk.
I guess Johns and Pete’s positive spin crap.
Please get somebody else.

Because we have to give up draft capital with Baker, and we still won't be a playoff team, IMO. Someone in here mentioned if Matt Ryan is only worth a third, maybe Mayfield is only worth a fifth? I could see making that move.

Looking at the names on your list, I would consider Foles and Smith. Personally, I think Winston is a disaster. And Mariota is a waste of time. And I know I sound like a broken record, but they should contact the Ravens about a trade for Huntley. If they haven't already.

Winston post-lasik actually has played well, so he may have figured out the stupid stuff. He has the talent - so bringing him in for a 1 or 2 year deal seems low-risk, high reward.
Huntley would be one of my top choices if he was a free agent, but he'd cost a fair amount, I think.
I honestly don't think THE guy is out there. Assuming tanking isn't an option, we can either go the route of a stop-gap or a wild roll-of-the-dice with an unknown. Personally, I'd rather have a stop-gap option on the roster and give the roll-of-the-dice guys a chance to outplay him.
Also, I'm a bit of a Foles fan-boi. I think he's the most underrated QB of the past decade.

I'd offer a 4th and make Cleveland eat half of Mayfield's contract.
I'd rather see the Hawks offense at least be OK next year. Wouldn't be much fun seeing DK not catch anything.
Hard to believe, but Mayfield is only 1 year older than Joe Burrow.

Not sure if you saw me post it here but Julio from the M's forum who is a Huge Bronco fan thinks Lock can be a top 15 QB and he is definitely better than Baker.
