I wouldn't be surprised if Brown re-ups for one more year. Which should allow CC to "mature" a bit before they throw him into the fire.

#9 pick overall should be better than a 37 yo even if he is a bit green/immature.

From CBS:

9. Seahawks: Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi St.
Grade: B

They had a glaring hole at left tackle, so they had to get a left tackle. With the run on them, they end up with a player who is good in pass protection but needs work in the run game. If Seattle wants to run it better, they picked the wrong tackle. But he is good at protecting the quarterback.
nearly every great pick the Seahawks have ever made was panned by the "experts" - so this makes me happy.
I recall them graded an F in the immediate reaction to the 2012 draft, for reaching on Irvin in the first (despite taking the first pass rusher), a small school linebacker in the second and a sub-6 foot quarterback in the third. One of the greatest draft classes of all time, by any organization.

Maybe, but depending on the money, it could be cheap insurance and a great training opportunity.

Sure. We will see if they agree.

That's the kicker, right? If he was willing to sign for cheap, then he wouldn't still be a free agent.

I'd also like an experienced veteran in the group to give those in-game, real-time adjustments to the rookies when they fk up, but after this draft I think Duane has gone the way of Bobby, unfortunately.

not gonna happen. no way Cross is gonna sit, or Lucas for that matter. when they let Russ go, they didnt even try to negotiate with Bobby. Brown is just the next one to go, bringing him back doesnt fit with the "out with the old, in with the new" theme they've already committed to.

I just don't like sending rooks to the LT spot. RT, yeah, OK. But LT requires someone who knows what to look for. Maybe Brown for half the season. Pay him as someone who deserves a walk into the sunset. Have him teach the two younger guys. They will be better for it and not lose confidence. This game is a lot faster than college. A tutor can only help them. And it isn't like we don't have the money.

NFL is obviously a huge step up vs. college but he played his best game vs. Alabama who probably had a better D Line than the Jags or Bucs. lol
