Interesting. I'm so glad we didn't waste a pick on a QB. I would have been pissed if we had missed out on Woolen knowing what we know now. I figured that they might take a late round flier on one the QB's on the board, so it wouldn't have surprised me at the time.

I call horseshit on Howell. I think he's actually better than a 5th round pick (*mid 3rd-early 4th ish), so picking him would've had value. Because of this, of COURSE they considered it, but like alluded in the post, it would make no sense.

Think about this: Lock and Geno are for sure going to battle for the starting spot (barring the unlikely event they trade for someone else). If you bring in a rookie, what does he add, unless he is going to be the starter? He's just going to sit behind them, and one of two things happens: 1) the starter does well, in which case there's no need for the rookie (as you already have two young guys) or 2) the starter sucks, in which case you will have a high draft pick and want to use that on a QB. Then you have a 2023 rookie that is supposed to be your franchise guy and your lame-duck 2022 guy.

Pointless either way, unless they thought one of the QBs could be THE guy.

It's very obvious that Lock was our QB draft pick this year. Just 3 years after his actual draft.
