Re: Oh Boy its on!
NFL Network just showed that Drew Brees is considering playing again... and immediately mentioned the Seahawks as a potential landing spot. That would change EVERYTHING.
Re: Oh Boy its on!
Guessing Brees is happy the Chargers didn't sign 43 yo Dan Marino out of retirement in 2004 and stuck with him instead for one more season despite the bad start to his career.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 3:16 amNFL Network just showed that Drew Brees is considering playing again... and immediately mentioned the Seahawks as a potential landing spot. can't reallyI imagine PCJS having an interest in signing Brees if the opportunity came up. I certainly could be wrong, but with their lack of interest in trading for or drafting a QB says to me they are pretty intent on their plan
Re: Oh Boy its on!
Yeah, they passed on a bunch of QBs in the draft, Watson, Mayfield and others via trade. Can't fathom that a 43 yo that will have not thrown a competitive pass in almost 2 years by the time the season starts will get them all hot and bothered.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 2:46 pmcan't reallyI imagine PCJS having an interest in signing Brees if the opportunity came up. So, we will go from a short QB who uses mobility to get outside the pocket to complete passes to one that can no longer get outside the pocket, and expect better results? If Brees played in this offense he would have never even been a Pro Bowler, let alone a future Hall of Famer.

Re: Oh Boy its on!
they showed no interest in drafting any of the sorry class of QBs, or trading for Watson or Mayfield. A sure-fire HOF QB that wouldn't require giving up any draft capital is a whole different kettle of fish.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 2:46 pmcan't reallyI imagine PCJS having an interest in signing Brees if the opportunity came up. That is, IF they really are intent on winning this year.... and that's a big "if".
Now, I'm not suggesting it's the way to go, but if they DID add Brees, then the roster suddenly looks like it could compete (to me). It would probably take us from a 5-6 win team to a 9 win team, bordering on a low playoff seed.

Re: Oh Boy its on!
Brees is still under contract with the Saints unless they wave him the Hawks would have to make a trade to get him.
Interesting to note that Drew Brees started out 10-17 in his career and meanwhile everyone is writing off Lock with an 8-13 start to his career.

Yeah I posted this. More INTs than TDs as well.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 5:09 pmBrees is still under contract with the Saints unless they wave him the Hawks would have to make a trade to get him.

So true. I remember how awful Brees was early in his career in a game against the Dolphins. And look what happened. One can only hope that Lock has that same desire and tenacity to become a legitimate NFL QB.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 5:09 pmBrees is still under contract with the Saints unless they wave him the Hawks would have to make a trade to get him.

After about 3-4 cocktails I like to think of him as a taller more athletic Dree Brees. loldouche wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 6:07 pmSo true.
