Huard: Should Seahawks go after 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo?
Huard: Should Seahawks go after 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo?

I listen to the Brock and Salk podcast and something has changed in the narrative. I know Baker has been thrown around as a possible QB for the Seahawks, but Brock, even though he'd brought it up too, up until recently, had still been saying Drew Lock was the mostly likely starter on day one of 2022. Salk brought up Geno taking the #1 reps - Brock would say Pete was just trying to keep the pressure of him. Now - Brock and Salk are both talking like it's not likely going to be Lock or Geno. I think they are hearing things from the inside. They are going back and forth on Baker or Jimmy G. Brock seems to think Jimmy G. would be a better choice to help evaluate the rest of the offense during the rebuild.

I don't think they hear a thing from the inside, if they did why didn't they have a clue RW was about to be traded. They just need to come up with stuff to sound interesting

They had been talking about the possibility for a long time. That there was discontent. They were not surprised.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 5:16 amI don't think they hear a thing from the inside, if they did why didn't they have a clue RW was about to be traded. I am saying Brock went from keeping an open mind about Lock and Pete's methods to making it sound like Lock is dead in the water and Geno is who we all know he is. Therefore it's coming.

Let's see if he is dead in the water

Yeah, Lock basically spent a few days throwing a football around......I doubt he killed his chances doing that.

How would the Seahawk marketing and PR department sell garbagappolo to the Seattle fan base - because they are going to have to?
How would the front office justify this move - when every seahawk fan has watched Seattle OWN Garbageoppolo his entire career?
It's one thing to need a QB - Seattle does - but you also have to sell it to the consumers - the fans - and IMO, Garbageoppolo would be a PR disaster for the front office. He's not terrible, but you cannot take a guy from a bitter division rival, who has been dominated by your team, and try to assimilate him into the team and fan base. The blowback would be extraordinary. Why don't these "media" types address that? Isn't that the elephant in the room? Not to mention the team would have NO respect for him. How can you allow that as your starting QB? Seattle needs a QB for sure, but these options just make little sense to me - this never seems to be thought out because, if you DO think it out - it makes no sense.
Is NO ONE considering this?
What Seahawk fan would be like "Oh, cool, the guy that could never beat us is now running our huddle!"? Common sense has left the chat.
Also - looking forward to Seattle now signing Garbageoppolo

According to those who were at OTAs, Geno took all the 1st team snaps. Not most of them. Not splitting them. All of them. Brock no longer believes Lock is on Pete's radar to be the starting QB this fall. I've listened to these two guys for years. I trust them. Brock especially.
It's not just throwing the ball around if a deadline to make a move is coming.
Re: Huard: Should Seahawks go after 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo?
You could definitely be right but I don't think Geno taking all the 1st team snaps during the OTAs is a tell. If he is doing it in August and starts the preseason games then we can make definitive conclusions. There is just so much more upside for Lock to win the job that I think it gives him the edge.trharder wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 2:04 pmAccording to those who were at OTAs, Geno took all the 1st team snaps.
