They treated Smith as the incumbent, Lock got his shot at him, if that's unfair so be it
."We really put him up against the competition, and Drew took his shot at him all the way throughout," Carroll said. "Those guys ... they have gotten along beautifully, they've supported one another throughout. They really couldn't have done that better and in more classy, great competitor fashion. They know that they need each other and all that, and they did it right.

"But Geno, he knows our stuff and he does really well and he understands it and he can manage everything that we're doing and he's good about the football. He'll give us the best chance to play great football right off the bat."

Yeah whatever. In much better news:
“I keep asking teams all the time, why don’t they just cut Jimmy G now? And the answer that I got back from multiple teams is, ‘They don’t want him to go to Seattle,’” Lombardi said (h/t 95.7 The Game). “I said, ‘Well how interested is Seattle in Jimmy G?’ And [one source] said, ‘Oh, they’re very interested in him.

Yeah I've seen that stuff, he isn't taking Geno's job away from him is he? He is as broken as Lock is isn't he? What I'm thinking is they pulled the trigger on the RW trade because they had confidence in Geno as at least a place holder. I'm figuring they will look for a genuine franchise qb probably in the next draft, what would be the point of bringing in Jimmy Garoppolo?

Oh I thought it was to find the QB that would win the most games. At least that is what I read here yesterday.

He is ranked 13th out of 31 in QBR.

You think he comes in here without any experience with the Hawk offense, without an off season or preseason and can direct the Hawks to more wins than Smith? Okay then bring him in. Last I heard the 49ers had moved on from him and couldn't find a team willing to trade for him. Oh, and he is coming off shoulder surgery

So, the guy who was on 49er missed INT from the Super Bowl is as broken as Lock? Huh? Jesus, if they got Jimmy G and he backs up Geno they really are trying to tank.

I don't know much about him other than the 49ers can't unload him. You think he comes in September 11th and becomes the starting QB? Then do it, I don't have a problem with it.

Yep, I said week 1. You said he’s as broken as Lock. Nice call.

Our divisional opponent won’t cut him because they don’t want to face him. What did Cleveland get for a former #1 pick? It’s not worth it for them to trade him

No they can’t unload him, because it isn’t in their best interest to unload him NOW. What good does a pick next year do them right now? Not to mention every team in the NFL knows they have to do something, why would they make a legit offer?

Sorry, Jimmy G is no MVP candidate, but he is light years better than anyone on our roster at QB.
