Re: Weekly PFF grades thread
The table i posted above ranked the centers only by pass blocking. If they are ranked for run and pass blocking it's even worse. Blythe is 42nd, Pocic is 3rd, and the guy they could have drafted in '21 is #1.

Re: Weekly PFF grades thread
The interior of our O Line is real bad. Lewis is at least average. I mean, that ranking of 20 is a bit misleading since for some reason PFF includes dudes that have played just a handful of snaps, so he is really more like 16 or so. But good Lord the other Guard and Center spot is abysmal. No wonder we can't run the damn ball unless the back gets outside or makes some kind of miraculous play. As bad as the defense has been, the interior O Line MUST be improved as well, IMO.

Pocic goes from a 43.8 pass blocker last year to 67.5 with the Browns. How does that happen? Has to be related to Russell Wilson somehow. The linemen didn''t know where he was going on any given play and it probably made their jobs more difficult and energy-sapping.

Re: Weekly PFF grades thread
I have said that for some time. I posted it during a game thread and one of the guys who isn't here anymore blasted me for it, but there was two or three times in the past few seasons where Duane Brown would turn around and look at him with this "WTF?" look on his face. Like, why in the Hell was Russ there!? He would block his guy out of the play and Russ would break a clean pocket right into the pass rusher. I don't imagine the Broncos line is all that bad in Pass Pro, it's just nearly impossible to block for a guy that can't throw until he gets out of the pocket. So many times in the past two or three seasons he would immediately duck down and look at his feet, like for no reason at all. Getting ready to spin and run and do all kinds of shit, inside a clean pocket.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:06 pmPocic goes from a 43.8 pass blocker last year to 67.5 with the Browns. Seems like Creed Humphries might have been a better pick than Dee Eskridge?

Creed Humphrey, being he is the highest rated center in the NFL in his second year that has a bit of a captain obvious quality to it doesn't it?
And why did he happen to fall in the draft so far pray tell? Well it seems he had abilities that he wasn't able to display at Oklahoma. That a player hasn't been asked to do something doesn't mean they can't do it. And no, the Hawks were not the only team to miss on Humphrey. The Packers took a center the pick before him

. KC’s primary running scheme is “wide zone” plays, which emphasizes offensive linemen who can move defenders on the run while playing well in space. Also, because of Mahomes and the Chiefs’ pass game threat, they rarely face “heavy” boxes where opponents stack the line of scrimmage to stop the run. That means Humphrey can play to his strengths as a run-blocker working in tandem with a teammate before getting out to the next level to clear out linebackers.
And that’s where he started to show abilities that weren’t on display at Oklahoma.
“That aspect got really underrated in the draft process,” Renner said, “just how special of an athlete this dude is

So it's not just the Hawks that reach in the draft, packers took Myers instead of Humphrey
.It also carries weight that the Packers drafted Myers one pick earlier than Kansas City Chiefs lineman Creed Humphrey. Humphrey was almost unanimously viewed as a better prospect before the draft — he was the 41st prospect on The Athletic’s Consensus Big Board, while Josh Myers was the 71st. Humphrey had a great rookie season. He was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and had a 91.4 PFF grade, while PFF gave Myers a below-average 58.3 grade.

Few teams had a greater need at center than the Seahawks. They don't serm to put much value on the position. 3rd WR was more important to them.

I don't know, maybe they have little confidence in their ability to evaluate centers out of college.
