Re: Rumors about Geno extension
Actually it seems Ryan Tannehill is a good comp. Had a very similar breakout season at age 31 and then signed a contract, four years $118 mil. This guy uses it as a model and comes up with 4 years $150 mil for Geno by comparing caps which I don't really understand. How would that compare to RW last Seahawk contact? I can't find a clear-cut explanation of the RW contact

Re: Rumors about Geno extension
From a Seahawk rising article, there was criticism of the Geno contact until it became the deal of the decade
I’ll admit it, 12s. There were a lot of eyes popping and jaws dropping when the Seahawks announced the money they gave Geno Smith to return to the team this season. What were they thinking? Did they really give $3.5 million to a career backup? Remember, they got the quarterback they wanted in the Wilson trade anyway. You do remember that, right? We all heard Pete and John talk about how much they liked Drew Lock when he was first drafted, and Pete still likes him.
Re: Rumors about Geno extension
No way I am giving Geno a multi year deal. This is one of the reasons why. The other is because he sucked with the game on the line other than one exception vs. an injury riddled Rams team.

Down by two scores with ten minutes to go is garbage time? What if you end up winning the game?

I can't even recall us being down 15 with 10 minutes to go other than that first game against SF and vs the Chiefs. It couldn't have impacted his stats that much.

Re: Rumors about Geno extension
It's garbage time when the Seahawks have any kind of lead in the 4th quarter because they go to a prevent type of D. But other teams not so much.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:40 pmDown by two scores with ten minutes to go is garbage time? What if you end up winning the game?
Re: Rumors about Geno extension
So if being 7-10 (like the Titans in 2022) is the comparable for signing Geno to 4 years and 150 million, I'm out.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 1:49 amActually it seems Ryan Tannehill is a good comp. For me, this Tannehill comp is a warning, not a clever insight into what will actually happen with Geno.

Re: Rumors about Geno extension
right?? down two scores with 10 minutes left is the OPPOSITE of garbage time. It's when the QB HAS to throw the ball and the defense KNOWS you have to throw. In a world of meaningless, made-up stats, that is the most meaningless.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:40 pmDown by two scores with ten minutes to go is garbage time?
