I find myself deeply appreciative of the season. It was another up-and-down ride and there were some losses that shouldn't have been, but all things considered it has to be viewed as a success.

I've heard some people say that Purdy is nothing, but I disagree. He's been playing very well. Sure, he's on a stacked team, but the dude can play. Which supports my contention that perhaps you don't need a superstar QB, you just need a well built team with a QB who can handle the basics and doesn't make mistakes.

Side note: SEA needs to work on their tackling. It just appears that people are afraid to tackle. They seem to hesitate, hoping someone else will make the tackle. Beyond ridiculous. This team needs to be far more aggressive on defense, both as a unit and individually.

I think Seattle's philosophy has moved into "build a complete team, add functional/affordable/reliable QB" - and i think that ideology may be spreading around the NFL as BQ salaries are becoming cost prohibitive. The QB position is changing - now teams will get a 'duel threat' and hope to make a run on his first contract and while he is in his athletic prime. Not many lawrence's coming out it seems.

I think the tackling has two elements to it - zero practicing, lesser preseason where it can be emphasized, and Seattle's lack of quality front seven play is resulting in pressure on the secondary to make more tackles. Moreso, I think it is lack of preseason practive and emphasis on fundamentals. Also, there are too many games - players are getting fatigued.

Yep! I wanted all four of those. Chose success and Fuck Russ! Haha

Well said Aurora. I only disagree with bringing back Penny. Draft backs, don’t pay them, and certainly don’t pay guys that have never stayed healthy.
I would still bring him back - he can likely be had on a good deal - he's a monster when he can get reps, he knows the playbook, roster and coaches, at the very least he's quality depth. I would take the risk and sign him to a two year incentive laden deal IF he is 100%. It's a calculated risk, but would likely be low cost and there are several advantages to him. I like Seattle's RB room overall - I think it's a strength. A healthy Penny and Walker tamdem would be frightning talent in one backfield.
Just WAY too many examples of rookie RBs coming in an kicking ass, and MANY more examples of RBs on a second contract going to shit. The dude is already a health concern. I save the money and pay a rookie. Walker is more than capable of being the lead dog and there are several options available in the draft. I just don't think it's money well spent.

Coaching has to factor into it as well. Being caught out of position and unable to make a tackle? And if players are hesitating, are they afraid to make a mistake? Do they not understand the scheme and what is expected of them?

Re: Penny... his injury history is almost as lengthy as Procise. He's just one of those players that can't stay healthy.

I can't even remember what his injury was. That trade looks worse all the time.

From CBS sports...

Adams (knee) remains without a timeline for full health, according to head coach Pete Carroll, but he is starting to move and do work on a treadmill.

Adams suffered a torn quadriceps tendon in his right knee Week 1, which required surgery and forced him out for the entire season. It's still unclear when he'll be able to participate in full for any offseason activities, but the 27-year-old is expected to be ready for the start of the 2023 season.

Yikes.

Guessing he won't be able to practice or play at all in camp and preseason even if he is ready for game one..

He also has a real purdy mouth...

My mom took me to see that movie in 1972 when I was 14, because she thought it was a Burt Reynolds buddy movie and she liked Burt Reynolds.

My mom took me to see that movie in 1972 when I was 14, because she thought it was a Burt Reynolds buddy movie and she liked Burt Reynolds.

First "F-Bomb" came in the script about two minutes in, mum stood straight up in her seat, went to the ladies' room, sat there for two hours until the movie was over and then met me in the lobby and drove us home.

I saw Ned Beatty get violated at 14 all by myself at John Danz Theatre in Bellevue.

The next year I saw Deep Throat at the Green Parrot Porn Theatre in Seattle, but not with my mom.
