Why didn't they zig in 2010 when they had the #6 and #14 picks. Was the combo of Hasselbeck and Whitehurst somehow more solid than Smith and Lock?
I guess it was the worst draft class for QBs ever. Bradford followed by Tebow and Clausen lol. So, never mind.
That doesn't stop teams from taking QBs early out of fear. The Cardinals took two QBs early in back to back years. The Bears took Tribisky, the Browns took Manzell. The list goes on and on. I posted a reply to a comment in here a month or so ago. Someone had listed off the QBs taken in the first round, and it was FAR from a who's who of top flight NFL QBs. Richardson has just as much chance of being the next Jamarcus Russell as he does the next Josh Allen. QBs are far over valued in the draft, IMO. WAY too many of them go early because teams forget about Jamarcus and all think Josh Allen. Far more Jamarcus Russell's out there than Josh Allen's.
I agree with all that but if the Seahawks had taken Tebow, Clausen, or McCoy at #6 Pete and John would have been run out of town before before they could finish their rebuild.

Here's an interesting tidbit. In the 2017 and 2018 drafts the Seahawks had shown interest in Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

In 2017 it has been reported that the Seahawks would've been in high consideration to pick Mahomes at #26 if he was available.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/sea ... raft-him/
The story is the Seahawks were so infatuated with Mahomes when he entered the draft out of Texas Tech in 2017 that they were thinking about taking him with the 26th pick if he had been available, even if quarterback was their position of least need.

Instead, the Chiefs — who play the Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday night — traded two first-round picks to Buffalo to move up from No. 27 to No. 10 to grab Mahomes.

The next morning, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted, “If Patrick Mahomes was there for the Seahawks in late (round) 1 they would have really, really considered it.’’
“(Seahawks general manager) John (Schneider) was in love with him,’’ Carroll said of Mahomes. “He knew that he had something really special. He thought he was worthy of going up there in the very top of the draft. We were surprised that he made it to 10th by our evaluations.’’
The 1st round pick result for the Seahawks in the 2017 Draft:
No. 26: Seattle → Atlanta (D). Seattle traded a first-round selection (26th) to Atlanta in exchange for Atlanta's first-, third-, and seventh-round selections (31st, 95th, and 249th)

No. 31: Atlanta → Seattle (D). see No. 26: Seattle → Atlanta.[source 1]
No. 31: Seattle → San Francisco (D). Seattle traded a first-round selection (31st) to San Francisco in exchange for San Francisco's second- and fourth-round selections (34th and 111th)

So the PC/JS traded down twice when they didn't get their guy. Even after having an awful defensive season John and Pete passed over on TJ Watt coming off a monster season at Wisconsin.

In 2018 it has been reported that the Seahawks attempted to trade up to the #1 overall pick with Cleveland to pick Josh Allen at #1.

“Russell Wilson and Mark Rodgers were very upset years ago when the Seahawks, John Schneider and Pete Carroll went to visit Josh Allen at his workout in Wyoming.

“That did not sit well.

“They had a Super Bowl quarterback, and you’re going to look at Josh Allen.

“Let’s be honest, if you and I won an Emmy and we hear that our boss is out looking at new hosts for this timeslot, we’d be like, ‘talk to my agent.’

“So that started all of this. Seattle started it when they looked at Josh Allen.

“It did not make Russell and his camp happy.

“They’re like, ‘you’re not paying us anything, we’re winning Super Bowls, what are you doing?’”
Note: In 2016 the Seahawks were #28 in total defense and in 2017 #23. In 2017 and 2018 the Hawks signed mostly defensive players in agency. 2018 was an exodus of the Legion of Boom

The 1st round pick result for the Seahawks in the 2018 Draft:
No. 18: Seattle → Green Bay (D). Seattle traded first- and seventh-round selections (18th and 248th) to Green Bay in exchange for Green Bay's first-, third-, and sixth-round selections (27th, 76th, and 186th).

In 2018 John and Pete traded down when their guy was not availabe. 2018 we'd seen the mass exodus of LoB.

which is why there is no way they're picking one. Everything from Pete and John this time of year is a smoke screen. If they say they want to zig, they're gonna zag. If they REALLY planned on taking one of these guys, they'd be ghosts.

But if one of these two drops to 5... they might just zig.
Do they really think other teams are going to fall for this nonsense or do they just love taking selfies and posting on twitter like teenage girls. lol
yes, I really do think other teams fall for it. "journalists" (can't even call them that without quotes any more) fall for it, spread the narrative, and all it takes is one team to believe it. They do it EVERY YEAR. It's surprising to me that people don't know this. They fool the people on here that follow the Seahawks on a daily basis, why wouldn't they be able to fool the idiots in charge of the Cardinals, Redskins, Browns, Panthers, etc??

At this time last year, everybody on here thought we were going to take Malik Willis. Go back and check - I did. The whole forum, save for one or two people, were convinced that's where the Seahawks were going. Of course, that was before we knew the season Geno would have.

So yes, people buy the bullshit.

I'm not saying this didn't happen, but it always cracks me up when these guys get drafted and kick ass, and all these teams raise their hands saying "we were gonna draft him!" LOL

In exactly zero of those years did the Seahawks recently pay one QB coming off a Pro Bowl season and another QB they had recently traded for. At zero point in any of this, would Mahomes or Allen not have played for a year or two. NEITHER of those two were anywhere CLOSE to the project that Richardson was. MAYBE Allen, but go look at the Buffalo Bills team that drafted Allen and compare it to the Seahawks team right now you are asking to draft Richardson. Which team was going to hinder a potential playoff run by drafting a project with an early first round pick? Which one of those two just signed two QBs, one coming off a Pro Bowl season?

This is made a lot more plausible when you evaluate EVERYBODY like the Seahawks do. Then you can say you "really like" every single player that is mentioned, and then the media runs with that, and every forum on the internet starts assuming that's who they'll draft. Every player that works out, you get to say you really thought about drafting them, but nobody mentions all the flops that they also loved.
