He's also 9 and 8 in the playoffs. Wasn't that the knock on Pete? Losing Playoff games? I realize that was more of a recent issue, since Pete was 3 and 6 in the playoffs since losing the Super Bowl, but Carroll was 10 and 9 with the Seahawks and 11 and 11 overall.

Here's hoping Payton only falls down the list as he never wins another playoff game! LOL

I agree with you, he eventually did get things rolling but to think that an overpaid HC is going to resolve all the problems is somewhat short-sighted. Like so many teams who think they're one QB away from winning it all. So they blow the bank on one guy and... the team is still going nowhere.

He got things rolling on defense. He's paid to make the offense tick. Part of the entire premise he tried to sell when he "didn't know about Bounty Gate". He coaches the offense! Dude's a dickwad.
