PC's legacy has already been tarnished. Yeah, McDonald will do more with the players given him, hopefully. I don't see the need to overthink it. Pete's defense was terrible. Personal wasn't the reason it was at the bottom of the league. If he had rolled out even an average defense he's not fired.

So odd that asking your corners to line up at or behind the sticks and backpedal at the snap was a scheme that didn't work out.

One of the more interesting tidbits to come out of the first week of Seahawks' OTAs was a quote by Cary Williams, as he talked about adjusting to the Seahawks' style of secondary play.

"They talk about being more patient," Williams said, per the Seahawks' website. "There's a lot of intricate things that are different than other places. They're more focused on the details, like I said, and it's an emphasis on those things and making sure you're focused on those small details on every snap."
And Williams got cut

He was signed for the 2015 season
On March 10, 2015, Williams signed with the Seattle Seahawks on a $18 million three-year contract, with $7 million guaranteed.

In his first game with Seattle in Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams, Williams recorded 3 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown in the 34–31 overtime loss. Williams struggled throughout the remainder of the season however, and on December 7, 2015, Williams was released after losing his starting job to DeShawn Shead in Week 12 against Pittsburgh.

Williams finished his stint in Seattle with 46 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection, and 1 forced fumble.

What conclusion(s) do you draw from that quote? That they had a different approach early in Carroll's tenure here?

2015, just speaking to the reputation. Pete was known as a defensive minded coach who's specialty was defensive backs.
