There is also the issue of team cohesion and motivation on which a head coach has a great deal of influence. Being an Xs and Os wizard isn't going to be enough if MacDonald is to be successful here.

Everything I've read about Macdonald is that the players love him. He is revered by coaches, but the players dig him, too.

I think we hit a home run here... got the best coach, had a strong draft, picked up Howell as opposed to drafting a QB... I'm liking it all.

The thing is, you can't trust what you read this time of year. We'll have to wait until the season starts and then we'll begin to see if the players buy in.

I think NFL players are more likely to buy into this than the Rah Rah Bubble Gum Bullshit that jumped the Shark about when Trump was first running for Potus...
Now we come to the major flaw in the projections: Mike Macdonald. Yes, Macdonald fielded a top-three scoring defense in both 2022 and 2023. I mean, his defense also logged a historic first. They led the league in fewest points allowed, most sacks, and most takeaways. Throw in that four Ravens set or tied career highs in sacks.

I wonder if any of our guys might be interested in also setting career highs in sacks given I have read sacks are pretty important when it comes time to negotiate a new contract....

I understand what you're saying. And to clarify, I'm not referring to the Seattle players, I'm referring to players that he has coached in the past. They all love him. So I think it's reasonable to assume that our players will dig him as well.

Well, that gives it more validity. I would just note that how he relates to players as a head coach may differ from how he did as a coordinator. He may be required to be more of a disciplinarian now and that could change the dynamics, but we'll see.
