Pull the Plug
Pull the Plug
I think our O Line is slow, sluggish and unfixable. I also think it’s time to move on from Geno as he is a slow reader and has the longest wind up in football. He simply is not the future. Wishfully thinking I wonder if we could work some kind of three way trade moving Geno to a team needing a starter while snagging Pennix. I would then take my licks and reload the O Line via FA and the draft

Re: Pull the Plug
I've never been a Geno fan, so take it with a grain of salt, but I am so sick of the excuses. All of those saying it's not Geno's fault don't watch the mistakes he makes that are totally correctable, but he can't correct it. You can't miss wide open throws when you get those rare opportunities, but he has missed big ones, and they are usually critical third down plays. You can't turn the ball over like he does, and the amount of critical turnovers and RedZone turnovers are just inexcusable. At this point in time, they KNOW he isn't the future. Don't they need to decide if Howell is?
Entirely new Coaching staff. This team COULD have been a playoff team, but it was going to take many more breaks than they have gotten, and much better play. Time to decide if we need to use an early draft pick on a QB next year, or go with Howell. That isn't happening by continuing to watch Geno stink.
Again, the same fucking excuses, over and over again. To his credit? Geno isn't making these excuses, and if he wasn't an NFL retreat? Might be worth sticking with him to decide if he is worth another contract. But how many mediocre seasons do we have to suffer through with a guy that has been in the league this long before we move on? How much capital has to be spent on a guy like Howell before he gets a look? I understand, Howell is probably going to stink, and bad. But? Do we want to go into next season with a guy that is probably going to stink and bad, but has never been on the field because we were so busy trying to go 7 and 10 or 8 and 9 that we stuck with Geno?

Rebuild the offensive line? JS is continually rebuilding the offensive line. This one is heavy in one year contracts. It's not rebuilding, it's can JS manage to build one

True, but I do believe it's an NFL wide issue. Seems to be you need to hit it big with an early draft pick or spend in FA. It's like trying to find a major league hitter...there just aren't that many of them!Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 4:39 pmRebuild the offensive line? What does it say that Haynes couldnt beat out Bradford?
Re: Pull the Plug
The fact our o-line is shit is all the more reason you can't throw a pick 6 on first and goal in a tie ball game.

Good read....maybe Schneider can turn it around? Like I said, I feel that it should be better addressed in FA. Drafting feels like a crap shoot. But it seems when we invested early in the draft? It's worked. Okung and Cross come to mind. But then again? Wasn't Carpenter pretty early? I always felt they blew it trying to justify his early draft position by forcing him to play Tackle. Thought he seemed better off inside.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 4:52 pmI don't know Michael, I just posted that on the game thread, take a look. The commanders managed it

I don't know....pretty hard to ignore the obvious. Can't blame Tom Cable or Pete Carroll anymore. John needs to get it figured out.

Re: Pull the Plug
Agree with that but I believe it's philosophical in that it's about resource allocation. He continues to run out a bargain basement offensive line to pay for his defensive line.
What's interesting too, something that article left out is JS has claimed cohesion is more important than talent, and yet he hasn't bothered with cohesion at all with his turnstile offensive lines

I think cohesion is really... when I look at offensive lines, and the really good offensive lines that I have been around, cohesion and being able to play together more so than the pure talent of a guy," said Schneider at the Combine, "that is really quick or super flexible or rates specifically in an athletic manner

Re: Pull the Plug
I might consider pulling the plug if i was Jody and firing JS. Then hire a new GM with a mandate that he use the money they are spending on Noah Fant and Dre Jones and some others and reallocate that to O line spending. And don't pay DK unless he is willing to give a hometown discount (yeah right).
