Coug fans are just using this fake anger as an excuse for a reason to stop playing UW so they don't have to be humiliated every year.

Its not really much of a rivalry when one team has won 75 games and the other has won 33. If the Apple cup were a baseball season, the Huskies would be on pace to win 112 games.

There have been 20 graduating classes at WSU that went through all 4 years without winning an Apple Cup. The Cougs have never even won 3 in a row.
If you take off the 'homer' glasses for a second and look at it objectively you will see what i'm saying about not playing the game any further. And, i'll stipulate, hopefully you actually went to UW and not one the idiots in the area that just bandwagon UW against WSU as if you actually had any skin in the game, lol. Those people are so pathetic its comical.

The games for the most part are always competitive as it is now. UW does almost always have an advantage due to recruiting in a big city and the fact that most kids are delicate snowflakes that need to be around stuff. Too bad they don't understand what a sh*thole UW has become with all the homeless, etc, lol. As I said though - the games have been competitive - its not as though WSU ALWAYS gets 'humiliated' or anything of the sort.

You put UW in the Big10 and if WSU ends up moving to the Mountain West for example, then it will cease to even be competitive. WSU does still get recruits as they are/were in a major conference. If that changes, they will no longer get those recruits and they really will get humiliated like 50-10 every year from there on out. The game would be no better than the first game warmups most schools do with lower-level division schools just to get things going. It would no longer be played in November but probably August/September as the first of the year game even. It would become such a waste of time for UW that I really couldn't see them even bothering after a few years.

Oh, you're one of those. One of those people that believe you MUST be an alumni in order to be a fan. I find that pathetic.

Do you follow the Mariners or Seahawks? How about any other professional team? If so, how can you call yourself a fan if you were NEVER a part of that team or franchise?

An I will answer your question; Am I a fan of UW? Did I go to UW?
I have been a fan of UW since I was 5 years old. I liked the color purple and always rooted for the purple team. This included the Vikings, Lakers, UW, LSU, etc... It wasn't until years later I 'actually' started to pick and choose my teams not based on the color of the uniforms....but UW stuck. They were the local state school (I live in the Walla Walla area) and I still liked the color purple.

I have skin in the game; paid for my wifes education from UW. Paid for my son's education from UW.

So now, please explain to me how you must be an alumni in order to be a 'fan'. OR are you just a butt-hurt Coug?

I've said it a million times. I would love for one of these "you must be an alumni to root" guys to go to one of the small farming towns in Eastern Washington. Walk into the local bar during a Cougar game and tell bubba in the corner in over alls that he needs to take off his Cougar hoodie because he never left the farm so OBVIOUSLY can't be a real Cougar fan. It's a joke. NO other school in America thinks that way. Besides, if you went to Martin Stadium and kicked out the non alumni? It's a little brother attitude that should be embarrassing. But? They don't hold their own fan base to the same standards. I'll sit with guys that will cry about "Jack Huskies" who aren't Cougar alumni! It only applies to my our fan base, and, again, is ridiculous and they should be embarrassed by it.

I don't give a fuck if the game lives on. I used to love AC week...and I shouldn't let the internet and the bullshit crying being done effect that. But I kind of am. Throw out the biggest money maker your athletic department has every year. Genius.

Agree, I went to UW and never get that nonsense. I remember a clown lib on the Times forum, Calabcoug? He always preached that you have to be alumni to be a real fan.

Not that it matters but I have a BA and a Masters from UW.

You think the games have been competitive? Over the last 14 years UW has outscored the Cougs 443-252 that's an average score of 34-19.
