I am talking about my school, i am a Husky, they are Huskies...I think they should play the game, if the don't want to fine, but they are no longer Huskies. Again, the only thing that makes this work is it being their last game of their careers. You tell me, what if its some other game of the schedule, and they decide they didn't feel like playing it, do they continue being Huskies? They want to go out like this, fine. I think its rather weak
What about when they go pro? Bishop Sankey isn't a Husky, Brock Huard isn't, non of the DBs playing in the Pros right now are. That is a stupid statement. Trey Adams rehabbed two season ending injuries to come back and play for this team....Hunter Bryant blew his knee not once but twice....but your pompous ass wants to tell these kids they should risk it all on December 21st just because YOU are a Husky and they owe you? That statement makes Jim Moore look rational!

And as for a recruiting edge!? Seriously?

I'd say beating Boise State in a meaningless Bowl played nearly two weeks before New Years day ranks somewhere below Uniform color in the decision making of a recruit. A program getting guys to the pros and doing so with early round picks? MIGHT be just a TAD higher than that.

I don't know Smalls might decide to reverse his commit and go to Boise if we lose to them.

Take a chill pill, MK. I don't think that was what he was saying. Also, being an insulting a-hole over a difference of opinion on a sports forum doesn't work very well unless your goal is to vent some inner turmoil on people you really don't know that well. There's no call to take things that personally here.

THAT isn't what he said Hindemith? Or are you debating whether Gordon actually has the same draft stock as Adams or Bryant and you are telling me Jim Moore didn't mean it that way?

I responded exactly how I want to respond to someone telling two kids that have TWICE come back and rehabilitated season ending injuries to play for the Huskies that they are no longer Huskies! Pathetic. Most of the guys in here give up posting for a week if their wrist hurts, but Bryant can rehab two season ending knee injuries and Adams one knee and a freaking BACK surgery, and they just aren't Huskies anymore. Stupid.

And it was you that mentioned recruits. Ask Trey Adams what Bowl game the Huskies won the year before he committed? Stupid.

These kids bust their asses for this school, miss a meaningless Bowl game and they need to be chastised over made up recruits that it costs us or the fact that they are no longer Huskies. And I am the one with the issue? Stupid.

No call to take it seriously? They are kids...and you want them to feel more responsible to a recruiting class than their health, and Donn wants them to no longer be Huskies!? Yeah, I am the one that is taking this too personal. No longer Huskies. I have read some dumb ass shit in these forums in my many years...that might be the dumbest.

Moral of the story: Don't take a dumb ass position and then be shocked when you are called out on it.

So, doesn't their trepidation over playing another game send a message that they are not confident in their ability to avoid injury? Sure there's a risk involved in playing, but i think there are potential rewards but they are not so obvious to someone in their early twenties.

What are you talking about? This was what i was referring to:

His main point was that they may regret ending their college football careers this way for a number of reasons. Besides, nobody put a gun to their heads and told them they had to play college football with all its deprivations and hardships. They knew what they were getting into and i'm sure they found it a worthwhile experience. Why taint the memory by walking out on the team as your last act? If the Huskies lose in a close game will always wonder if they were the reason.

What he said is he is a Husky, and they no longer are...which is asinine. I’ve rehabbed injuries before, it is terrible. These guys have had two injuries end seasons, and because they won’t risk another before the draft, in a meaningless Bowl game, after a 7 win season for a coach that is stepping down because he doesn’t have the energy anymore...they aren’t Huskies. It’s a bullshit statement, and an even stupider stance to defend. These kids are more Huskies than some dude hiding behind a keyboard ever will be.

what is dumb ass about it?...He is making a point about players that sit out their bowl games, it doesn't really have to do with the Huskies specifically.

like he says there...
I’m not trashing on these kids because they’re Huskies. If WSU quarterback Anthony Gordon pulled out of the Cheez-It Bowl, I’d trash on him too.
that is his job, to take positions on issues, what do you think about it? Its their decision, but I think they should play. I think in the end they could regret not playing, their last game with their teammates, a celebration, thought that was what bowl games were about? It does seem to me to be taking caution too far.
A journalist's job, by definition, is to show both sides of a story - with impartiality - and let the reader make their own decision. Anything else is editorializing - which is what 99% of the media have morphed into, but they try to pass it off to idiot America as the news - which it isn't.
