I went with 31-13 cuz I assumed it would take a few games for our offense to gel and I didn't realize can't state had such a good offense

Hard to judge much of anything given the level of competition. The run defense hasn't been as good as I would like to see and the secondary has been beat a few times. I really like the play calling on offense though. A ton more variety and creativity than we are use to. These late night games are ridiculous. Its almost 10:30 and they are just starting the 4th Quarter.
I agree 100% to all.
I disagree. We didn't get beat deep last year because that was all we worried about. Play 9 yards off the ball and then bail on the snap. We gave up so many yards and TDs it was disgusting.

And QB play was amazing last night. The only thing we need to see to see the difference was watch the throws Morris made once he got in. How any coach saw that arm and thought, "yep Pac 12 starter" is beyond me. He had a gut wide ass open on a slant and thew it at his ankles. Instead of a big catch and run it was a great diving catch. And the ball that was almost intercepted? WTF?

Pennix was great. I can't thjnk of a QB who had a better debut. Locker ran all over Syracuse, and it seems both Price and Pickens had good days throwing it, but six straight scoring drives? Five TDs in six drives? No punts until the 4th quarter? Maybe Brock coming off the be ch against AZ was a better debut, but not sure.

The difference is he is a fifth year Junior. Those others were all much younger. Lake's team from last year would have lost last night, I am sure of it. The great mix of Plat calling, actual positive plays on 1st down, the tempo!? Last year we would run first down five for no gain, huddle up for ever, run second down dive for a yard or two, huddle up for ever, throw short and then punt.

Seriously, anyone not excited after yesterday is going to not like college football out West. This is about as good as it is going to get in today's climate. Kids will want to play in this offense.

We chased of talent at WR, because our OC was horrible and our coach was a dipshit run the damn ball hat wearing asshole. Chased off talent at WR, and still have this. Recruits were watching, trust me. This was a huge step in the right direction.

Yes watching Morris look horrible at the end of the game pretty much affirmed what we all know. I hope any future backup reps go to Huard. He might not be much better but at least he has a possibility of someday doing something positive for this team while Morris doesnt.

Kdb looked like a badass on the sidelines. Finally a coach we can be proud of

Impressive the way Penix got off on the right foot as a Husky. He did a good job at avoiding defenders and staying erect long enough to find holes in the coverage. Let's hope he can keep it up!

I have always liked your next day game analysis, but would like to know what you disagree with.

1. That we can’t tell much against Kent State.
2. That the run defense wasn’t good. Their leading rusher was the QB, and mostly on scramble plays. Our edge guys will do a better job of getting the QB down.
3. That one guy getting beat deep is an issue. We are playing aggressive. I’d much rather see that then the soft bullshit we played last year.

What I took from the Kent State game was that the competition this year is going to get nothing but harder and harder (expect this week against Portland, and maybe the Apple Cup, damn those Cougs looked BAD).

Yes, we played decent against them, but I wasn't too happy with giving up first downs that required over 8 yards. I know they will happen every game, but damn, how may 3rd and 15 yards did we give up....on a run.

But for the most part, the D played pretty well for a first game, but this certainly wasn't an omen for things to come.

2.
Nobody said the defense wasn't good in what you quoted. Just that taking into account the level of competition, it's hard to tell.

3.
Yes their QB scrambled for way to may yards. For some reason that didn't bother me as much as not sacking him. How many times did we get HANDS on him and didn't bring him down? By my counting, we should have recorded at least 8 sacks, but for some reason he just slipped by. The D did a great job against their running backs, but for some reason, they couldn't grasp the QB.

Kent States defensive was complete shit but that offense will rack up a lot of yards just like they did last season when they were 5th in the country in Yards per game...
