Sawyer Racanelli is a 3-star Wide Receiver/Linebacker/Athlete from Brush Prairie, Wa. 6'3", 205 lbs.
Seattle Times staff reporter Mike Vorel reports:
.... “With that being said, I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at … THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON”.
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound two-way standout, Racanelli has starred both as a wide receiver and a linebacker at Hockinson High School. Ranked as the No. 25 athlete in the country and the No. 8 2020 prospect in the state of Washington by 247Sports, he chose the Huskies over offers from UCLA, California, Michigan, Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, Kansas State and more.
“He’s actually the highest-rated three-star in the state of Washington, and I think he’s going to have a very good chance to end up being a four-star,” 247Sports national editor Brandon Huffman told The Times this week. “I love him."

Who's seen his junior tape?
Hockinson is a small school, right? Can he match up with the big boys?
A little fun fact, I'm probably related to this kid. My mom's maiden name is Racanelli. I gotta track down the history. I thought I knew all the Racanelli's this side of Italy...

This junior tape will self-destruct in 30 seconds. Complete your mission and report through proper, secure channels.
Be cautious Vogelbomb, the Racanelli's are a brutal bunch threatening forum, national security.
If you accept this mission and fail, this forum will disavow you and not acknowledge your existence.
Racanelli. Racanelli. That name has a sweet ring to it. Makes me want to go out to Buca di Beppo and order RACANELLI SUGO, BOLOGNA, ITALY and a fine wine.

What does it mean that he is the no. 25 athlete in the country? Clearly he isn't in the top 100 or probably even top 150 overall prospects or recruits for 2020 right now.

Maybe he meant "in the COUNTY".

over on another forum i saw a writeup on him a couple months ago, talking him up as a hidden gem under-the-radar tape, with comparisons to Cooper Kupp. one inch taller though.

He's classified in the 247 rankings as an "athlete" rather than a linebacker or wide receiver because he's pretty dynamic (as you can tell by his stats). They also may not know what position UW is recruiting him at. And he's rated the 25th best "athlete" in the country. There's obviously a number of HS prospects class of 2020 that are classified in this way and he's the 25th best in their opinion.
Hope that helps.

It doesn't really tell anyone much though because "athlete" is not a position in football. If they ranked all the recruits as "athletes" where would he fall then?

But not every player IS rated as an athlete. Why in the world would you take a QB and see where he is ranked as an athlete. Isn't that what the over all ranking is for? There is a top 500 and more now a days right?
