It’s John Donovan. Who’s John Donovan?

That was exactly my reaction, but at least he has called plays before!

I am not too concerned about the struggles at Penn State. He was There 3 years after the Sandusky thing and the program was under sanctions with reduced schollies and a post season ban. I am not sure what the recruiting classes were ranked that he was working with but it couldn't have been good.

article says they were limited to 10 players one year and 15 the next. that is fairly crippling, especially combined with the social stigma of anyone committing to go there in the immediate aftermath (though that seemed to rightly go away pretty quickly with the ouster of the perps). Not a sexy hire, but OC experience at two different Power 5 schools - that is two more than either of the last two combined.
Btw, i have heard absolutely nothing on coach K - can we finally safely assume at this point that he is happily staying and likely resumes his old DC position?

Still, after Joe Moorhead was hired to replace Donovan, Penn State promptly shot up to No. 21 nationally in scoring offense — averaging 37.6 points per game — in 2016. A year later, the Nittany Lions finished sixth in scoring offense (41.1 points per game) and 19th in total offense (460.3 yards per game).

(Ironically, Moorhead is the odds-on favorite to be named the next offensive coordinator at Oregon, according to FootballScoop.)

Wow, can't make that shit up. We get the guy who sucked, Oregon gets the guy who kicked ass. I guess UW is just not a destination school and probably never will be. Frankly, they lucked into Don James wanting to stick around here for life.

not really following that but this seems pretty obscure to me, that was like five or six years ago?...Think this is more about his NFL experience, installing an NFL offense

interesting, Moorhead didn't last long at Miss St., 26 games, various issues i guess, one being perhaps his Pennsylvania background not going over well in Mississippi...
