Cole Bajema transferring to UW Hoops

Post by IStillLoveTheMs » Sun May 17, 2020 3:52 am

Bajema is a 6'7 shooting guard from Lynden, Washington.

He was a 4-star w. a .9443 rating from 247. No. 112 recruit overall. Committed to Michigan, but is coming back home.

He has a super soaker from 3.

Makes 2 former guards who committed out of state coming back to play for the Dawgs... Erik Stevenson being the other.

What felt like a light recruiting class has been replenished with these 2 guys.

Let’s hope this is an actual shooter. Man, how many times in the past decade or so have I gotten all excited about us getting a shooter, only to continue to read for years how good he is, without ever witnessing it.

Maybe Howard is racist! lol
Coach John Beilein left for a short lived stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers before the start of Bajema’s freshman year though and new coach Juwan Howard didn’t seem to value his contributions. Bajema played only 3% of the team’s minutes last season mostly in blowouts but was shockingly efficient when in the game (10/13 from the field and 4/7 from 3-point range). It appears Howard gave no indication that Bajema’s standing on the team was likely to increase in the future and so Cole is headed back home to greener pastures.

Pretty slow release. Will need some good picks to set up. Has some "smooth" to his game. Saw teammates getting the rock to him, does he do the same? Righty but used his left hand on a layup or two. I liked that.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

seems to have a bit better handle than Dom Green, a similar-sized transfer also billed mainly as a shooter. do like that length shooting from distance, really opens up the floor for the slashers or post play. not to mention 3 points are better than 2.

Yep when you think about it a 3 point shooter only needs to hit on 33% of his threes to have the same expected points as a posted guy that shoots 50%. Usually they are close to 40% which yields an expected point value of 1.2 points per shot. Post guys need to be hitting 60% to have that.

I think he's a much better player than Dom Green.

Green was a disappointment for the Dawgs.
