Brock picks three guys, two of which are complete bums and thankfully picks the good one. lol

You think Wilcox would be a terrible hire? I struggle with that one. I remember him coming in and after Holt lead one of the worst defenses in history? Who began the turn around. I was bummed when he didn't stay on and followed Sark to SC. Little did I know that Kwiatkowski was the man!

Wilcox would be intriguing. But I would love the dude at Baylor. The OC from Oregon is interesting, but they are in the top 5 in the Country and the offense is in the 30s. That said? It is a modern spread style. If I never see a three TE dive play again? It'll still be too soon.
He had a good first 3 years going from no bowl, to the Cheez IT Bowl to the Red Box bowl (God I miss when it was just Rose, Orange, Sugar, Cotton and Peach) but then it regressed to the point that we beat them. lol

True, I guess I assume it should be easier to recruit here?

Cal was really handicapped during COVID. The rumor is that is a big reason Wilcox wants out.

This is a bad year to be looking for a new head coach. The herd of HC candidates will be considerably less impressive after the big-name programs like LSU, Florida, and USC are done with their hires. UW doesn't seem to be viewed as a destination school any more. Seems like V-Tech and TCU are more coveted jobs than UW now, at least in this guy's opinion...

Here's a good article that documents the most recent head coach hires of current Top 25 programs and debunks the notion that you need to find a guy with prior high-level HC experience in order to build a winner.

I have also heard several guys say it is. All it takes is the right guy to want to come here. Petersen was supposedly never going to leave BSU. Jim Mora Jr said the U of W was his dream job....funny, hard to tell based on one guy taking the job and the other turning it down like twice.

There are plenty of guys with West Coast ties that are rumored to be on the short list. Can you imagine being a West Coast guy and loving it here and now coaching in Ames Iowa or Waco Texas? Probably a lot like Alex Rodriguez growing up in Miami and trying to spend his late teens and early twenties in Seattle!

I heard from what I would term a very reliable source that Clawson at Wake is under the magnifying glass.

Man Clawson's progression is very impressive. Literally took every program he coached from absolute shit to damn good.

Given that they chose to fire Lake "without cause" that's $9.9 mil less in the coffers to pay the next guy.
