Rather odd, since it only seems to help one school. I am not saying that out of hate. I would assume we would play each other damn near every year anyway. I mean, why not? Does it really matter if we play the Apple Cup in September before we play Conference games? Would it REALLY kill the rivalry that much? It would be even easier in basketball with the amount of NC games they play. Seems like it was about ten or more years in a row that WSU played Gonzaga in hoops. That ended because it no longer benefited Gonzaga! I would say the rivalry with Washington was similar. Maybe not back when we seemed to consistently be a Sweet 16 threat, but certainly the late Romar years.
