Big 10 opener GT
Re: Big 10 opener GT
defensive domination. easily enough to far overcome another uneven, sloppy offensive outing with penalties, fumbled snaps, etc.
Especially nice to see the Run D step up, though the competition is far inferior to the likes of Michigan and Oregon coming up.

I didn't see any of it, but fumbled snaps and penalties on offense. It's time for Fisch to start earning his pay check. The Cougs went 2 OTs with effing San Jose State. We should be fucking embarrassed. Instead I'm sure Fisch will blame execution, even though it seems that discipline is the problem.

So here we go, fight of the century, UW vs Rutgers.
Husky coach Jedd Fisch, a New Jersey native himself, will bring his players together for a 7 p..m. workout to prepare for a Big Ten game that will be played in Piscataway at 8 p.m. ET and broadcast nationally by FOX.
"[We'll] try to get ready for the night-time mentality, try to get some under-the-lights work," Fisch said following Saturday nigiht's 24-5 victory over Northwestern at Husky Stadium.
The Huskies will practice Monday through Wednesday and fly to the East Coast on Thursday, arriving in New Jersey at 5 p.m. local time.
With the Scarlet Knights off to a 3-0 start and installed as an early 2.5-point favorite, Rutgers is promoting this match-up as one of its best home-game environments in more than a decade. School officials have called for a "Black Out" at the game, where the home fans wear all-black clothing to 52,454 SHI Stadium, which will host a pregame light and fireworks show. Rutgers players likewise will don all-black uniforms.
"We've got a great challenge ahead of us going across the country to play Rutgers," Fisch said. "They're going to have a great atmosphere."

Re: Big 10 opener GT
Again, so hard for me to be very involved this year. I didn't foresee this, but watching the Apple Cup? Just kind of left me numb. There are like two kids back from the two deep from last year, the coaches seem ill prepared and such low energy. I don't see how this team gets off the plane ready to play. I had big hopes when they hired Fisch, and it's not like I thought this team wouldn't be in a bit of rebuild mode....but they are just so lethargic and lifeless compared to the two years under DeBoer. Fisch is going to recruit, I realize that, and most likely out recruit all we have seen since Sark. But will it matter? Am I the only one that just sees no passion when this team plays? I imagine it is nearly impossible to replace that many kids and not have some culture issues, and not have a getting to know you phase. But this is football. The Cougars beat us on sheer emotion. They damn near lost the next week to San Jose State. Why? Because they weren't playing the hated Huskies. We didn't even seem to realize the Cougars hated us.
I hope I am wrong, and this will probably be the first game I can watch most of. I imagine I'll be home from practice after kickoff. Let's hope they give me something to give a shit about. But this is starting to feel like basketball all over again. I know this pisses DT off, HELL, it pisses me off! I don't know that there has ever been a time when I didn't live and die by Husky football. But I also used to love college basketball. Now I don't even watch it.

I’m with you all the way on this Michael. To me at least half my enthusiasm for the game is gone. I have zero interest in other college football games as well. It’s not something that I can conjure up, it’s just gone.

It makes their season to knock off the huskies, particularly with them coming off the season they just had, doesn't matter that it's not the same team. Sounds like Rutgers is looking at it the same way. It's being broadcast nationally. Schiano running up the score against Howard. He wants to make a statement. Let's see how the huskies respond.
Re: Big 10 opener GT
I am thankful that the Huskies survived their trap game with NW. Obviously looking ahead to a real old school Big 10 power house in Rutgers. lol
btw Dawgs are 2.5 pt. Dogs.

Bummer. I am even more excited than usual. P12 had gone stale and needed a change. I can't wait to see how this season goes. We aren't as good as the Big Boys of the B10 yet but we are clearly better than the bottom feeders and I think we will stack up pretty well with vs. the mid pack teams and Saturday will be a decent test.

I know we beat three shit teams but we are one idiotic play call away from being 4-0 after losing our top 42 players from last season if your estimates are accurate. Not terrible.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:43 pmAgain, so hard for me to be very involved this year. I didn't foresee this, but watching the Apple Cup? Just kind of left me numb.
