Playoffs

There are a lot of people out there with egg on their faces right now. Remember when they didn't need a playoff because there aren't that many teams worthy of a shot? The top four were Oregon, Georgia, Texas and Penn State. Three of them are out and two of them lost their first game. If Ohio State wins tonight, the Championship game will be played by #5 and #6. Two teams most likely left out since Oregon and Penn St would have taken two births and there is no way they are letting a third team from one Conference in. They also couldn't have left out Texas or Georgia. So? If it is ND and Ohio State, that is a game that would have otherwise not have been an option.

At least the championship game wasn't a blow-out this year. But why are Ohio St and Notre Dame playing a game in 10 days? Is it to raise money for victims of the LA fires?

My guess is the NFL. Dont they always play the NC game the second Monday of the playoffs? No NFL game to contend with.

It's that or next Friday. My guess is they like the Monday night deal. The NFL takes Monday Night for four plus months and college takes it for the ship?

I'm just saying since they decided to play the NT game ahead of one of the semi-final games, what is the purpose of playing it now? Ohio St and Texas were clearly the two best teams of the remaining four IMO.
Forgive my sarcasm. I'll be rooting for ND but the Bug-eyes are going to immolate the Fighting Fire-ish by 25+ guaranteed.

Yep that is what 8 would have been perfect. I doubt a 9-12 team will EVER win it all and there wouldn't be a need for byes but they always have to over think the F out of everything.

Gotcha. They do need to figure out the seeding, that is for sure. No way SMU and Boise State should have had byes. This isn’t the NFL. Not all leagues are created equal, even amongst the Power 5.

Should say Bye bye to byes...

I would have gone with eight as well. The Big 12, Big 10, SEC and ACC champs plus the top four at-large teams. Committee seeds them 1-8.

12 isn't bad, though. If you're going to be off, be over. More football.

Yep 12 is the next best for sure. 16 would have no byes but seems excessive.
