I'm really happy for this guy, I love the fact that he LOVES hockey. After all these years, he's still like a little kid out there.

It's surprising that he did it in just about the same number of games Gretzky did even though Gretzky's overall point total is assist-loaded.

Agreed. He actually broke the record in the same number of games. Impressive.
Another mind-boggling stat is that Gretzky has more assists than any other player has overall points. To put that into perspective, Ovechkin's overall point total is 1200 less than Gretzky's.
