And following it up by beating Shittsburgh 3-2 in OT, briefly tying the Sucks for 1st place until they beat the Golden Showers tonight. No idea how long they can sustain winning low-scoring games, but they're doing it.
They pick up a point losing in a game where they don't score a goal and they only take 20ish shots. Why don't they just fling towards the net? You miss 100% of shots you don't take. The players they have drafted can shoot they just seem to be shit scared to do so. Why?
I think they just don't have the skill to do that, you have to get yourself into position just to be able to fling it toward the net and they're not skilled enough to do it like most other teams can.

Once again for the fifth straight season their leading scorer is going to be in the 60-65 point range. That is virtually impossible to do. In five years they haven't acquired or developed even so much as a fringe all-star player.

Nowhere is this more apparent when they can't ever score in OT shootouts.

Their moves are so pathecially weak on 1-on-1 moves, it's mind-blowing.

So Schwartz goes out with injury and the team gets shut out against one of the worst goalies in the league, Seymour Skinner. They couldn't even score on a long 5-on-3. Getting the feeling that the ceiling is really starting to creak...

That Edmonton game was the death knell on this season. It was fun while it lasted, though, eh?

Agreed, the season's over. Dead last in the entire league in goals scored, their leading scorer (Eberle) is on pace for an unfathomable 54 points, Daccord has fallen apart, the young players have topped out at so-so, and it's just a really boring team. Five years and this is what they've come up with. Meanwhile, Vegas just continues to roll and Morgan Geekie a few days ago was leading the NHL in goals scored.

You can't even say "Well, they've got some up-and-comers in their farm system" because the guys who are already up are substandard and that's who they're going to be playing with. They're stuck with bad contracts and they're really looking like they're going to be cellar-dwellers for a long time. Francis totally screwed the pooch and they're going to have to tear it down.

Coaching Change, after coaching Change and the issue is still the same. The team doesn't have enough talent. How about moving Ron Francis out of the city permanently. His eye for talent is severely lacking. We will see if Botterill can be an improvement. But, keep shuffling coaches when the team talent level is what it is.

Francis never made the playoffs with Carolina, and of course he's failed in Seattle. As for Botterill, he was GM for Buffalo for three years and not only did they not make it to the playoffs when he was there, but they still haven't.

This is like if the Seahawks hired Matt Millen to be their GM.
