The Kraken and mariners are the same team. Neither can score and the roster is full of underachievers.
The Mariners are definitely badly underachieving so far and thankfully it's a 162-game season so things should work themselves out, but the Kraken are not underachievers. They're just not very good. McCann is somewhat close to being an All-Star player and hopefully McMann is for real, but the rest of the roster is a bunch of third- and fourth-line talent, with a few guys who are good enough to crack other mediocre teams' second lines. Our goalies this season have probably been about league-average.

The thing about Beniers and Wright is that they've never put up big stats, at least Beniers didn't in college. It appears that Ron Francis just overestimated his and Wright's talent.

And fittingly, the season ends in a 2-0 loss to the Gravelanche who rested their top players. That's called quitting.

Their top scorer (Eberle) had 52 points. That's almost impossible for a team to do and it's a miracle they're not the worst team in the entire league.

They really need to somehow get the #1 pick in the draft and draft Gavin McKenna who has been compared to Conor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini. They absolutely can not again end up with someone whose ceiling is the third line. And even so, they need to shed themselves of most of their veteran players and stockpile draft picks. They won't improve by "sprinkling" in a few players and no top free agent in his right mind wants to play in Seattle.

What's especially sad is that the Kraken are below the chick hoops team in Seattle's pecking order. That's REALLY sad.
