Lightning totally struck with the Knights. They drafted a bunch of third-line players and some second-line players, but they gelled incredibly well and they struck gold with the goalie (Fleury) they picked up. I don't think we can count on that happening a second time even though Ron Francis built a pretty good team in Carolina.Double Mocha Man wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:28 pmWith that name they'd better be good. Right off the bat/hockey stick. Like the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Otherwise it's going to be "joke city".
The Knights have regressed since their first season, getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs last season and this season they're in first place in the Pacific Division but with a 39-40 record.

That was quite the "cinderalla" story their first year. Along with the 1980 Olympic hockey team. And hey, it's possible in Seattle... the Seattle Seawolves won the national championship their first year.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:54 pmLightning totally struck with the Knights. Did you forget about the Utah Jazz? Or the Provo Krak whores?DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 8:59 pmStone forgot to mention that the player groupies will be known as "Krak Whores".
And again, where "local ties" are concerned, 67 percent of the NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL franchises don't have "local tie" names. Sometimes you just want to name your team after something that kills the living hell out of other things.

Yes, I agree. Can NOT believe people are freaking out about it. Plenty to bitch about these days. Don't need to obsess on a fricken mascot.

You should write a book on this brother. I remember when my brother and I were like 6 and 7 or 7 and 8 we tried to pick winners of games by which mascot would beat the other mascot up. This worked very well in games that OSU or Oregon were involved in.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:44 pmThere are only two pro franchises that are named after animals that even a small percentage of people eat, the Bucks and the Ducks.
