A-Roid buying the Timberwolves

Post by Captain 97 » Tue Apr 13, 2021 4:54 pm

So it looks like Alex Rodriguez along with a billionaire partner is about to become the new owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Aparently there is some sort of clause in the contract that says they won't move the team. However we know from experience how that works. I read an article that suggested that they might try to move the team to Seattle. This city pretty much hates him do you think bringing the NBA back to Seattle would be enough to get him back into your good graces?

I hated Alex when he left but I hate the NBA FAR more now.

I honestly think all those still fantasizing about the return of the NBA are basing it on the nostalgia of glory days of Kemp Payton and Detlef and will be shocked when they aren't on the roster and are replaced by a bunch of one and done punks and guys from Eastern Europe that nobody has ever heard of...

Man, I wish I didn't agree with that. I am not sure what is worse, the style of play the NBA has adopted, or the freaking assinine uniforms they wear now.

Also, the Wolves are 14-41 and have sucked for years. 15 of the last 16 years they've had a losing record, despite getting numerous high lottery picks. They're living proof that more often than not, tanking doesn't pay.

It's time for the T-wolves to rebrand themselves. Perhaps a new logo and name are in order - the logo: I'll go with a city engulfed in flames with silhouettes of violent protesters and crack heads. The new name could def be the "Peaceful Protestors" ProtestorWolves. TimberProtestors. A-rods A-hole has a nice ring to it.

The NBA - lol! Do people still watch that?

I would rather watch the Colonoscopy network than the NBA.

My dislike of the NBA differs from the "right wing Mariner forum" views. To me, NBA players embracing 'Black Lives Matter', speaking out against racisim in their communities, and not just "shutting up and dribble" has nothing to do with it. I can't stand the state of the game. It's spread out the floor and either get to the rim or it's chuck 3's. Mostly it's chucking 3's. You might see a high screen/pick and roll, but there isn't offense anymore. Hardly any high/low interaction, moving without the basketball -- just rotate the ball around until someone chucks a 3. Teams don't take pride in defense either, not a lot anyway. It's definitely not the style of basketball that I fell in love with as a kid.

The lack of enforcement of traveling and carrying the ball also frustrates me, but I think that's probably been going on since the 80's. All that being said - I'd love for the Supes to be back and be able to take my boys to watch the Green and Gold. Bring em' back.

Right wing.

Yeah nothing wrong with inciting violence on a police officer who likely saved the life of an unarmed black girl by shooting a black girl trying to stab her after criticizing a Spurs exec. for supporting Hong Kong against China because he was worried that if he didn't kiss the ass of a country with massive human rights violations he might lose a few dollars. Dude is an epic POS just them most in that league that mindlessly fall in line.

And yeah I am not good with embracing a racist, communist, terrorist org founded by a woman who bought four houses with donations and now lives in a community that is 99% white. Brilliant name though. That way they can just call any of their critics racists that don't care about black lives. What a joke.

Their "protesting" doesn't deter me from the game because of the fact that the majority of them (men and especially women) are dumb, young, rich jocks who don't live the lives that we do. They have big egos, they want to be heroes, and, combined with not being particularly intelligent, as a result they follow the herd. But by and large they're harmless, just really annoying more than anything, so I can separate that from the actual game.

Which unfortunately, as you said, sucks. Teams are launching a minimum of 25 threes per game, and there even have been games where teams have shot more threes than twos. Now, while there are so many players who can knock down 40-50 percent of these which is really impressive, it doesn't make the game better.

As for LeBron, he is a stupid POS. He really outdid himself when he irresponsibly hung that police officer out to dry, and then tried to blame other people for what he did. This is also someone who has gone on record saying that he's afraid the cops will shoot him, presumably if he refuses to take a selfie with them.
