But the consensus before the draft was that the Kraken should be a playoff quality team because the expansion draft rules were the same as when Las Vegas joined the league. Francis decided to go cheap in order to have cap space.... to do what?

To build and experience a foundation - then to add star pieces for a run in a few years. Not sure though - don't really know the list of FAs coming the next couple of years.

I was looking at the top free agents for 2022, a lot of pretty good players you don't have to sell the farm on and we've got cap flexibility.
