Grubauer finally gets waived

Post by DavidGee24 » Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:05 pm

It's just amazing how a goalie goes from being a Vezina Trophy (top-three) finalist to a complete scrub in one offseason. Gru had about a 92% save percentage in his career before coming to Seattle, and in four seasons has posted 89/89/90/87 save percentages in a Kraken uniform. Bear in mind that a drop from 92 to 89 equals one goal every 30 shots which is a lot considering how many overtimes are forced when you would have been ahead by one goal and eliminated because you were behind by one goal, which costs the team several points in the standings.

I see a lot of Gru apologists blaming the defense, completely forgetting that Joey Daccord plays behind the exact same defense and is fifth in the league in save percentage and ninth in goals allowed. Probably the same people who still think that Jarred Kelenic just needs a little more time.
