Jones has admitted to lying, he did it to make a buck. There's not a 100% right to free speech. If you knowingly lie and it damages people you can be sued.

It's just a huge money grab by greedy people, both the relatives and the lawyers, aided by a justice system that is only too happy to destroy a conspiracy theorist with conservative leanings. What about the people that actually harrassed and threatened the families? Why wouldn't punishing them be enough along with a reasonable payout by Jones depending on the degree to which he encouraged them and knowingly spread misinformation. Paying them each tens of millions of dollars is not justice. That said, i think Alex Jones is a swindler who tapped into people's distrust of government with half-baked grandiose theories. I just think his money would better be transferred to some organization that actually helps victims of crimes rather than a bunch of rapacious moneygrubbers.
