Amazing the lengths these libs will go to to try and downplay what Trump and Musk are doing.
But I don't know how much "DOGE" is going to get into the weeds of making individual departments or agencies more efficient.
You have no idea. Yet here you are trying to argue that they won't be able to.

Compare SpaceX and NASA. It's not even close.
And he considers himself a politically-central person. Just reading his post, he doesn't believe that they can trim anything....and actually sounds like he hopes they fail.
You are 100 correct, as usual, when attributing things to me. I appreciate the assist.

What I *actually* said: "Bigger point: I hope they can come up with $500 billion in cuts. I hope 2 years from, now we can say the country is more prosperous and safer. I hope we can say the world is more secure. Let's give the new president a chance."

There will Most likely be considerable push back from every liberal news source. There will likely be protests and wailing and knashing of teeth over the terrible destruction of everything they have built into all the regulations and how this will set us back 200 years blah blah blah……..and then you know what’s gonna happen….. we are going to save $500 billion and it won’t slow progress down for a second or upset anything else but the liberals utopia………………..
They will change the name from Doge to Dold

You are complaining that Americans might exercise their right to free speech? But, yeah, I suspect you are correct, and I hope that they (the left) keeps it civil and objective.

Or maybe they should not say anything and just go along with the duly elected President Trump. Just the way Fox News and the right wing ecosystem never said a word in opposition to the duly elected President Biden. *sarcasm emoji here*

Here's hoping for a peaceful and prosperous 4 years.

Senator Jodi Ernst

I have a simple message to the bureaucrats who haven’t shown up for work in years and the government contractors and grantees collecting millions to study how fast a shrimp runs on a treadmill – buckle up because accountability is coming,” Ernst said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “My decade-long mission to make Washington squeal has created an exhaustive list of more than $2 trillion worth of waste, fraud, and abuse that I will work with DOGE to cut. We are going to break down the nonsense that has taken over Washington and put in its place a government that actually works for the people.”

I'm all in favor of getting rid of $2 trillion of "waste, fraud, and abuse." I'll withhold judgment until I see the list, and please don't take this as meaning I am against the effort ... not at all. It's just because I believe that 2 trillion is about the size of the entire "discretionary" budget, including the Department of Defense.

Wow, I so hope this happens. Imagine the GOOD things that could come out of an extra $2 trillion.

No doubt you will be against many of the cuts...and you will find many reasons to leave that spending in place. But you need to consider the greater good by cutting the "what YOU would think to be a necessary program" verses what is a "necessary program".

And, what an arrogant statement: "I'll withhold judgement until I see".....
