The biggest thing for me is that he retired to become a greasy lib politician just before his Company was about to ship out to Iraq. And he said he went on a tour of duty which he did but it was to Italy not Iraq.
The last one is a technicality. He was promoted to Command Sargent Major but did not complete the required coursework before he retired so he he reverted back to a Sargent Major which is an E8 instead of an E9. Not a big deal imo.
There were Vets interviewed last night that said it was totally lame to retire just before having to go to Iraq so I will defer to them.
Honestly, 20+ years of military experience and can retire at any time.....why not just before you deploy? I think that sounds like a solid plan.
Because you are leaving your soldiers that you were commanding to twist in the wind. They had to get a new leader that they didn't know and he didn't know them. It would be like an NFL HC retiring the week before the Super Bowl. Do you think the team would be more or less likely to win the game??? That is Weak as fuck and a cowardly move. Want all the credit for being in the military without having to risk anything or fulfill the actual Purpose of being in the military.
I certainly understand what you're saying. Maybe if I did enlist, I'd feel different. More of a 'let's go get them' attitude.
But I didn't enlist, so all I can do is imagine what he must have been going through. The way I see it, he had an option to retire, so he did.
Ya know, I can't believe that the military would put a 40+ year old man into a combat area. But there is also no doubt in my mind that they replaced him with a very capable replacement, or that's on his commanding officer.
Believe men, I dislike that man based on his policy and actions as a governor. Not if he served the way "we believe" he should have served.
