We're to the "They don't require a flu shot" point and 99.6% survive Covid anyways.

Once everyone that wants the vaccine has had it they (government) can shove their masks up their asses.
My understanding is that was the plan all along. Mask up until everyone that wants the vaccine gets it.

I've never understood the crazy push back on masks. Is it that big of a deal to put a mask on when you're grocery shopping? Or in Home Depot, etc?
Even now that restaurants are open 50%, you wear a mask in - then can take it off at the table. If you have to go to the bathroom, you put the mask on and go do your business until you come back to the table. Now it's off again. Is that so terrible? I get that it's not the most fun thing in the world, I just don't get the "I refuse to wear a mask" people.
Here in Boston I have never once seen anyone not wear a mask inside in public. I wear one when it makes sense and don't when it doesn't. I laugh at people that were one outside when they can easily social distance or when they are alone biking or driving but whatever turns them on. I certainly don't resent them for it.

They are still saying things like Christmas "might" be more normal this year and you should wear masks into 2022. That is why people get pissed. Zero reason to wear a mask once everyone has access to the vaccine.

Polio vaccine - prevents polio.
Flu vaccine - prevents the flu.
Mumps vaccine - prevents the mumps.

COVID vaccine - doesn't actually prevent COVID.

Got it.

And sheeple are getting this... why exactly? because they're being told to by people that will directly profit from it - via political capitol, pharma profits, news ratings. And in five years when there is a sudden surge in side effects from a briefly-tested product - everyone will act all shocked that a 'vaccine' that doesn't actually prevent it, has horrible side effects - after big pharma etal have already reaped the benefits - and the people, as usual, are nothing more than their guinnea pigs. Vaccine's generally take more than ten years to fully develop. COVID has been 'developed' for a year.

I'm definitely not anti-vax - but this shit show will probably not end well - except for big pharma shareholders in the short term - but wait until the lawsuits from the unknown side effects not vetted out start pouring in - after it's too late for the people that are the actual test subjects. Then there'll be a whole bunch of "whooooops! and "sorries!", and bullshit justifications, all the usual nonsense, from all the profiteers.

Oh, then big pharma will get to 'develop' a whole new slew of products for the side effects this vaccine created. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I don't think that is correct. Getting the flu shot doesn't prevent you from getting the flu. It prevents you from getting the worst of the worst symptoms. I think the COVID vaccine is the same.

I understand the skepticism of the vaccine. It seemed to be a race to get one so who knows what shortcuts were made. And I agree, the data of potential impacts 2, 3, 5 years down the road will be interesting.

Not sure there was a 100% "win/win" situation with COVID. What were the choices?
- Do nothing. No masks, no vaccine - just wait for natural herd immunity. More people get sick, more people die - economy is impacted, but not as much as the shut downs - the death toll would've been crazy.
- Shut everything down, mask up everywhere, wait until vaccine comes out, wait until everyone is vaccinated. Infections and deaths are down, but economy is rocked. Tons and tons of small businesses go under, people go crazy from isolation - basically a complete change of how to live
- Some sort of a hybrid (which seems as what the US did). Shut down, mask up, open up when it makes sense. Wait for vaccine, wait for people to get vaccinated. A lot of small businesses still go under, people are still going crazy with isolation - even some log into a random sports forum to try and convince people that vampires are drinking children's blood and those vampires are democrats and hollywood elites.

Now throw in that nobody trusts any information being given and you just have a total clusterfuck. You have some states that are open (FL, TX) - people say.... "look at them, they're open and thriving"..... but then there is info of those states hiding positive tests and deaths. Then on the other side, you have states that are very slow on reopening due to cases still being dangerously high. Then there is info that anybody and everybody with the sniffles are claiming they have COVID. What side is true? Who the fuck knows?

Throw in that COVID was politicized by both sides - people are just sick and tired of every aspect of COVID. Makes for a good forum debate, but most of us just want to get back to normal. Whatever that means for each of us.
When you get a 'flu shot' you are literally getting a dose of the flu - a specific strain - usually the most current strain going around. It is a low dose so your body can more easily fight it - that way you develop the antibodies that kill that strain - then you can never get that strain again. That is why there are variant strains - the flu is a living organism that must mutate to survive. You get the shot - it gives you a low level dose - a dose your body can kill off - then you will never get it again. Same with colds, etc. Once you get it and overcome it, you will never get it again because your immune system/white blood cells, have naturally developed the antibodies against it. Viruses morph to survive - just like animals and humans. The people profiting from COVID will milk this for all it's worth - they will drag this lout for as many years as possible with the fear mongering. It's called greed. A mask will in NO WAY save your life. It's all part of the fear mongering to exert control over the masses - many of whom refuse to think for themselves ands exercise common sense - and it's great for ratings for the scumbags at CNN who will say anything to get you to watch.

I don't take any medication - zero - I don't even have aspirin in my house. I've seen too many lives affected by 'just taking the pill, just getting the shot'. Fuck that. You don't need what big pharma is shilling. Take care of your body, exercise a lot, and have a smart diet and chances are high you'll be just fine. I consider big pharma a much higher risk than getting the COVID vaccine. Next up? 40 different COVID 'variants' that magically need 40 more shots. $$$$$$$$$$$$$. What do you supposed the profit margin is on each dose? Why this absolute rush to herd everyone into getting vaccinated? IS it because more and more side effects are being discovered? Isn't the gov paying for all these shots? Aren't these politicians the same ones getting huge donations from the same pharma's shilling this? We know big pharma is all about the money - and so are the politicians - when has that ever resulted in 'what's best for the people?" Oh, and imagine the tax dollars being used in this - being pissed away - for something that probably has a ridiculous profit margin - one that is even higher in the US because Biden rescinded Trump's favored nation status on the vaccines - which meant lower costs in the US. Biden literally guaranteed big pharma would make more money. Oh, that's coming out of your pocket, by the way.

What I think would be great is if people with a cold or flu or covid would social distance for a week instead of going to school/work and getting everybody else sick as a new norm.

I haven't been wearing a mask here because thats pretty much the norm. That's why its funny to hear there are playgrounds out there in libland with kids in masks and adults bullying them about it.

In my area, the people that want the vaccine have had access to it now. Game's over at that point.

Of course, can always start forming a line for next years vaccine whenever you'd like to.

I agree with this, but I thought a challenge with COVID was that you can have it (and pass it on) before you get symptoms or feel like you should stay home. So you, feeling fine today - can have COVID - go out without your mask and pass it to someone. Then in a few days, you start to feel bad so you stay home. But the damage was done.

Not everybody has access in my area yet - it's been a clusterfuck.

The guy who asked my kids to play on the other side of the playground had a huskie sweatshirt on. He was obviously just a douche.

This is my biggest reason for the not getting the shot. It took Jonas Salk seven years to perfect the polio vaccine, a disease that had been around forever, and with no political pressure. Now, less than a year to perfect a vaccine for a disease that just came into existence with all kinds of political pressure? Hmmm.

This is biology, which doesn't give a shit about our technological advances. Now, if it turns out that it works, bravo, but I'll let others be the guinea pigs for now.

Popular take - can't disagree with you at all. My wife is getting her 1st shot tomorrow - I'm waiting until we get back from Palm Springs. I don't want a sore arm or a gruddy feeling ruining my rounds in the desert. 36 at Mission Hills on Sunday - recording the Masters, don't tell me. ;)

Hope you got a nice resort to stay at there, there are a lot of them. I usually play ball out there a few times a year and go for something in Rancho Mirage or La Quinta. If you find time, do the Tram up the mountain. The way up is pretty scary though.

My 25 years in the industry tells me that there is no way in hell those in the FDA that approved the vaccine would have done so unless they truly believed it was 100% safe. If they didn't and there were issues, their reputations that they spent 20-40 years building would be instantly destroyed, not to mention potential criminal charges. Vaccines are relatively simple as compared to complex Biologic Oncology therapies which btw have far worse safety and side effect profiles while often only offering 4-6 months of additional survival.

Ironically, I haven't heard of an anti cancer therapy crowd. I shall be getting the vaccine with zero fear.

We didn't do a resort - found a house on VRBO with a pool. Just chillen' there for a week - weather looks amazing.

We did the tram about 10 years ago - I think my wife was pregnant with our first son. I only brought golf shoes and flip flops for that trip. Did the tram and hiked around up top in my golf shoes. #winning.

It's good to hear this. Thanks for your perspective. I've been concerned about potential (and so far, unknown) long term effects. I've been unclear on how the emergency use authorization differs from the regular approval. I just looked at the FDA page on EMU and didn't quirt get it. Can you explain?
