I spent my 15th birthday at the Wednesday night Fillmore East show with these guys, one month and five days before this audio. Same tour. Same song list. Same greatness:

DT... you showed that video years ago.

It's not true... I'll put up my ex wife on the crazy scale competition. Off the charts.
Not hot... especially with time

Dude there are not many men who can say their wife left them for a woman and lived to tell about it. Huge respect for you my friend.

I began going to concerts in the spring of 1968, when I was 13. As a result, I got to see some of the iconic performers of our time, when they were touring regularly, like the Jimi Hendrix Experience (in Newark NJ the day the MLK was shot), Cream, and Janis Joplin, as well as the early LZ shows in 1969, and The Who (4 times between ‘68 and ‘71). Over the years, probably 200 concerts of all kinds, and some pretty iconic ones, like the Atlantic City Pop Festival, the Concert for Bangladesh, and a host of concerts at the Fillmore East (including Black Sabbath’s earliest US show when they opened for Rod Stewart in 1970).

The best seats at the more expensive shows were $4-$5, while the best bargains were the summertime concerts in Central Park, hosted by Schaefer Brewing, which was festival seating and $2 for the best seats. Those were always pretty magical. I’ve enclosed images of their 1968 and 1969 schedules below so you can get an idea. And my buddy and I always went straight, never stoned. We stayed away from that shit, despite it being everywhere. For us, it was just about the music.

There were many great bands that I *never* saw, as well, including Pink Floyd, Rush, and the Grateful Dead, but I can’t complain, given who I did manage to see and hear live.

Among the great shows on my ‘Rushmore’:

The Who
Joplin
Early-mid 70s Genesis (with Peter Gabriel, and who were utterly superb)
Frank Zappa
Yes
Led Zeppelin
Gentle Giant
Springsteen/E Street

Thanks for reading this little ‘memoir’.

Wow, how wonder how many people either thought about splurging the extra 50 cents but didn't and how many said, this is going to be a great show, I am throwing caution to the wind and investing the entire $1.50!

Great stuff, Peter, thanks again for posting! :D
