You think illegals just work at home Depot parking lots, seriously? I worked in construction all my life, Latinos dominate the rank and file, and I mean in legitimate construction businesses. I worked on Dan Wilson's house, Bill Gates, I'm just saying it wasn't fly by night. It was legitimate construction businesses that did things legally and there were plenty of Latinos I worked with. Not because they worked cheap but they were fucking good. How many were illegals, I don't know, but believe me, you can find a SS number to get a job, it really isn't that hard.

That's what kills me about guys complaining about Latinos taking their jobs. It wasn't about money it was about skills, and commitment. The guys complaining were the guys coming to work drunk, doing crank in the work shed. Believe me, I lived it. If you want to talk American values it was the Latinos that embodied them. Raising families, coming to work ready to work, taking their job seriously.

The issue to me isn't trying to run the illegals out, it's adjusting the laws so they can work legally, that's what would make America great again. That's what made America great again n in the first place, the effort and desire of immigrants. That's what is funny about Trump. He's built his message on racism and anti immigration when the real issue is Washington. I mean he attacks Washington but not correctly. He talks about changing Washington regulations then start with the antiquated immigration rules. Instead of kicking them out make them legal, America would be better off if he did

They do pay taxes.... just not federal income tax.

They pay sales tax, but that certainly doesn't help with the problems they cause.
They pay federal income tax, I worked with them doing it. What's funny is they don't get their withholding back

I don't have much understanding of the federal tax thing, but this article says that many "illegals" DO pay federal taxes.

https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-i ... 3035929946
“Unauthorized immigrants pay sales taxes, as does everybody else, and very significant numbers of them also have federal and state tax withholding in their paychecks,” Michelle Mittelstadt, a spokesperson for the the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute, said in an email.

Likewise, Michael Clemens, a professor of economics at George Mason University, said “undocumented immigrants pay taxes, amounting to tens of billions of dollars in local, state, and federal taxes per year” — even though they can’t access most benefits that U.S. citizens are entitled to receive.

The Social Security Administration estimated in 2010, for example, that such immigrants contribute $12 billion per year more to the Social Security system than they take out, he noted.
Someone who doesn't have a social security number can file taxes using an ITIN - Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

This article says that the IRS doesn't have the resources to go after the employers who "look the other way" when they should be confirming the legal status of employees.

That's what I've been saying,, there are plenty of ways to get on a legitimate work force if you are illegal. And its not about employers looking the other way, it's not their job to investigate immigration status. And don't tell me it should be, I thought trump was about making it easier for business. Again, why not focus on fixing the actual problem, the laws so that illegals that are proven asset to the economy can work legally and actually benefit from it. Wouldn't that be better better than focusing on driving everybody out. That's actually a libertarian argument. Problem is trump couldn't sell an actual nuanced approach like that. It doesn't fit his blustering populist approach. And the democrats can't manage it either. So here we are, stuck with this same nonsense. Trump isn't going to be able to actually fix anything because there isn't the money to do it, that is mass deportations. And I expect he understands the value illegals actually bring to the economy, that was just campaign blustering to get elected, and voters bought it. He plays to voters emotions rather than come up with a forward thinking plan to correct the situation, that is immigration reform. The demos are no better so walla walla doesn't need to try and argue that angle

Trump said this recently
“It’s not a question of a price tag, we have no choice ... When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they’re going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here.”
Murders and drug lords, what does that have to do with mass deportations?

Some republicans are pushing back
I am sure that the Trump administration is not going to be targeting those people who have been here for more than five years that have American kids, that don’t have criminal records, that have been working in the economy and paying taxes,” Florida Republican Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar said in a PBS interview. Her Miami-Dade district is home to about 200,000 undocumented people.
So you're going to damage the economy, spend billions of dollars deporting millions of law biding people who have actually made the country stronger because of some drug lords and murders, okay. So why not concentrate on the murderers and drug lords, extend a route to being legal to the families and workers that are busy making America stronger? I know, that would make too much sense.

Good post. You wouldn't deny, though, that a huge number of illegal immigrants are not productive workers and are in fact contributing to the destruction of American society whether it be through gang activity, as spies for hostile foreign governments or entities, as operatives in terror cells, or simply by their violent nature (such as those fleeing the law in their country of origin or released from prison and sent here by their governments)? It shouldn't be hard to figure out which category they fall into and then deport the bad ones. That's where the money should be spent.

And those that you mentioned have broken the law twice....

Once when they came into the country
Once when they assumed a SS number

So are you okay with them breaking the law?

Being in the country illegally is a civil violation it's not criminal. Illegals are not criminals. I'm not okay with it. I think it's a fucked up mess. But I would go about fixing it by changing the laws rather than trying to round up 11 million people to ship them out. I kinda see it similar to legalizing marijuana. Instead of trying to bust whoever lights up a joint change the laws so it's not illegal in the first place
