Our current electoral systems weren't set up to account for this many mail in votes. But the trends over time in total votes reported in the 6 states that haven't or shouldn't have been called (PA, GA, AZ, NV, NC, and AK) are showing this and other things (such as slow counting in general). Biden probably won't catch up in NC or Alaska. Trump looks like he won't catch up in NV or AZ. Also, as far as I know, the Pennsylvania results so far do NOT included ballots received after election day. Those have been kept separate because of uncertainly over whether then would ultimately be accepted.
