I was a resident of CHAZ around 10 years ago. I lived right around the block from the 12th precinct, up high so I could look down at the liquor store. This has always been the shady area of Capitol Hill. Guys get out of jail and go right to the liquor store, then somebody picks them up and they go somewhere else. The hoodlums never hung out in the area. They don't go a couple of blocks south to play soccer with the gay guys at Cal Anderson park, for example... or grab an ice cream cone at Molly Moons.
Seattle does have a racist past and segregation still exists to some extent. It's the Madison crossing, whites to the west, blacks to the East. Color lines still hold unless you're a minority with a computer science degree. BLM, Antifa and the homeless can't afford to live in CHAZ, so it's fitting that they occupy instead.
Why didn't the BLM chapter choose another location like say White Center or Rainier ave?
I live on Vashon Island now. It's a short ferry ride away from Seattle. It's absolutely gorgeous here today with deer and eagles all over the place. Nearly everyone who lives here is white. Old white at that. Vashon has the highest donation percentage to the DNC than any other place in the country. They love Bernie Sanders. Questioning Obama is tantamount to blasphemy. There are BLM signs everywhere... and I mean everywhere. A couple of weeks ago, the BLM protesters here on the island (all of them white teenage girls) shut down the main 4 way stop so nobody could move their cars. Nobody honked or shouted at them... instead, they clapped and cheered and thought they were so sweet and noble.
In other words, the entire island has been BLM pussy whipped into submission.
Some might think that Moe lives in the land of racists, but I'm quite sure that I do instead. None of the white people here know what it's like to grow up black in America. No white person does really. And yet the secluded uber white liberal knows all about race and racism. They are highly educated after all. Not only do they know the struggles of blacks, they know all about the rural white racist, what they think and how they act. It's quite something given that they don't know either group of people. It turns out that the white progressive is the most racist of the white people because they're always thinking in racist terms. White conservatives who live in the country or suburbia even are too busy with their lives to even care, out of sight out of mind.
I would love to do a reality tv show where I take people from Vashon to Brooklyn to ride the F train..LOL... I would instruct them to be on their best inclusive behavior. Remember your white guilt. Your black comrades have been oppressed. You've lived in luxury. Now go... be with them, give to them what is yours.
The most racist whites are the most secluded from true minority society.
Guys like Quintin Tarantino. Yes, I know he's besties with Sam Jackson. He's still a bigot. So is Jackson. My son asked me the other day... white do so many stars want to be in Tarantino films? Good question I say, maybe they like witty banter followed by extreme grotesque violence? No, my son says, the white actors like his films because they get to use the N word and the black actors like him because they get to kill white people.
The true racist is anyone who stirs up angst and divide among people. Skin color is a baseline immutable quality that really shouldn't hold our attention like this in the year 2020.... but we do love our conflict.
