Into the back stretch we go and Portland still holds a length lead over Seattle and Minneapolis. Both of those cities are considering abolishing their respective police departments.

The Seattle City Council is moving to abolish the entire Seattle Police Department and replace it with a “civilian led Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention.”

In the proposed legislation, the council argues that the Seattle Police Department “[perpetuates] racism and violence” and upholds “white supremacy culture.”

The council endorses the “Decriminalize Seattle” agenda that would replace the police force with:
–”Culturally-relevant expertise rooted in community connections”
–”Housing, food security, and other basic needs”
–”Trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis”

And Minneapolis has issued to its citizens what to do when confronted by a criminal because the police won't be there to help no matter how urgent the call.

As the contestants move into the middle of the back stretch, Portland moves out to a two length lead over the others. The jockey, Mayor Wheeler, blames Federal "troops" for the recent violence though the Feds pulled back a week ago. Then he stated that the riots are helping Trump in the upcoming election (Gee, ya think?) And this tweet from Andy Ngo last night means Antifa has moved into the Portland suburbs off Burnside.

As #antifa have taken to Portland residential areas to riot, they’ve also assaulted & intimidated residents there. Tonight, they threatened those who looked out the window. #PortlandRiots

Don't know if I'd call the Burnside neighborhood as a suburb. That would be like calling Greenlake a suburb. But still, Portland seems determined to open out a significant lead over the others in the race for the worst run city in the nation.

And look just now! Portland stumbled a bit!
