I think Colonel Sanders has just as good a chance to be President as Bernie Sanders but that is a good preview of what it would be like if by some miracle if he does win. Only then he won't be asking, just taking.
Sanders would have a difficult time beating Trump I think. Hard to say impossible, because I can only guess at what voters are thinking.

I do believe that the Democrats best chance to defeat Trump is without question Andrew Yang. Andrew Yang is the only Democratic candidate that's pulling in former Trump supporters. Follow Andrew Yang on Twitter. Iowa is about to speak!

As of September 2019, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrat, 29% identified as Republican, and 38% as Independent.
Dems are not going to vote for Trump and Repubs. aren't voting for Bernie. It will come down to the Indys who think with their heads vs. their hearts. Almost none of them will vote for socialism over the greatest economy in history.

Is there really such a thing as a "former Trump supporter" anyways?

He's winning at such a historic rate- in the face of daily media assaults of misinformation- and following through on his campaign promises, makes it hard to believe many people have jumped ship.

I suppose the weak minded could have been swayed by the media, but most people see the media for what it is now, a branch of Hollywood.

Exactly! Everyone knew what Trump was all about from the very beginning. He has his flaws but unlike most politicians he is WYSIWYG guy. What you see is what you get.

If you follow Andrew Yang, you will find many former Trump Supporters. One of the main reasons is because Andrew Yang sympathizes with them while establishment Democrats demonize them. The entire focus of Andrew Yang's campaign centers around the issues that got Trump elected.

Andrew Yang is not an establishment Democrat.

I have a feeling Yang is going to place top 4 in Iowa and then he will have his shot on the debate stage on February 7th. If he can get into the national spotlight alongside Sanders, Warren, and Biden, then I think he can actually win the primary as well as the general election. In my view, he's so next level compared to any other candidate. I would happily hand the reigns over to Andrew. He will make you forget all about red and blue blame game finger pointing and actually show you great ideas to move the country forward.

the greatest economy in history.
By what measure? Time to start looking at a comprehensive scorecard rather than focusing solely on GDP.

"A common trait among the right-of-center Yang supporters Insider spoke with was a resentment over being labeled racist because of political leanings. They see Yang as a unifying figure."

We don't know how far Yang will go yet. He's got former Bernie bros and former Trump supporters coming together. In my view, that's significant. If he can peel from those camps, then he should easily be able to peel from Warren, Buttigieg, etc. Iowa votes on Monday, and then we'll have the debate on February 7th. I guess they lifted fundraising requirements, so Bloomberg may be on the stage. Still, just 8 candidates, so it should still be a decent forum for Yang to get some microphone time on a big stage. Then, it's on to New Hampshire. By then, we will know for certain if Yang's campaign is cooked or has any life.
